Solar Array Data Scientist

SOLAR ARRAY DATA SCIENTIST
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive the requirements, design and development of solar arrays for current and next-generation spacecraft
- Review flight data to assess health solar array hardware on-orbit and inform future engineering efforts
- Work with test engineers to design, build and execute ground testing to accurately simulate the space environment
- Research the physics of failure for all solar array failure modes to aid in the design of both tests and future solar arrays
- Analyze, track and report key performance metrics contextualized against vehicle requirements
- Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your own work
- Lead design reviews internally and participate in reviews with suppliers and customers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering disciplinea
- 3+ years of design and/or analysis experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Expertise in software tools such as Matlab or Python for numerical analysis and simulation
- Experience with processing large datasets
- Hands-on project experience, preferably as a team or sub-system team lead
- Demonstrated analytical problem solving skills
- Proactive problem-solving skills such as failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation
- Strong understanding of spacecraft power system design, modeling, simulation, integration, and testing
- Familiarity with terrestrial and/or space solar array design and analysis
- Expertise in LT-SPICE or similar circuit modelling software
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed

- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
