Avvo is looking for a versatile Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role is responsible for a significant volume and variety of activity, and the successful candidate will have strong communication skills, good attention to detail, and a proven ability to consistently meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Owns the vendor payable and expense report process, which includes processing invoices and expense reports in Concur, preparing payments, identifying and resolving issues, and maintaining strong internal controls over the process
- Prepares journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations for all vendor payable and employee expense report activity, including related accruals
- Prepares monthly variance analysis for balance sheet and P&L accounts and reviews results with management
- Maintains reporting used by Accounting and Finance for expense analysis
- Prepares state and local business tax filings including use tax, B&O tax and business license tax
- Manages annual preparation of IRS tax Form 1099
- Supports other accounting areas and projects as they arise
Desired Skills & Experience:
- BA/BS degree in Accounting (preferred)
- 1-2 years of accounting experience
- Technical knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, principles, practices and regulations, such as FASB/GAAP
- NetSuite and/or Concur experience a plus
- Proficient in Excel
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
