The Chief Investment Officer will report to a high net worth individual and support the family by overseeing a diverse set of complex business and personal family interests, and provide the critical operational and financial oversight to manage these interests. You are investment focused, responsible for capital calls, compliance, planning, statements, and operational due diligence.

The CIO will act as a trusted advisor, providing comprehensive financial services, tax planning, compliance and investment oversight for multiple generations of the family, by working to structure global investment objectives and asset allocation plans relative to tax and estate goals and risk exposure. You will be coordinating with a network of external advisors in the areas of estate and tax planning and compliance, investment advisory and management, secured instruments, and banking. You should have a thorough understanding of the wealth capitals within the family enterprise, including intellectual properties, private equity, social contributions, international investments, and traditional investment markets.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as primary interface for external advisors, including financial advisors, banking, insurance, legal and tax professionals
  • Deliver a broad spectrum of investment services to family, involving individual, LLC, trust and foundation entities, and develop comprehensive strategies for managing personal and trust assets
  • Manage and track tax returns of all countries with tax consultants
  • Track and report on the performance of all investments, investment portfolios, and related legal compliances
  • Evaluate and implement, as appropriate, common investment vehicles and alternative investment opportunities
  • Provide strategic direction for individual, group and trust investment activity, including long range investment plans
  • Provide comprehensive, real-time consolidated reports on a timely basis, provide ongoing monitoring and management of regular events and implications for Family Office (e.g., capital call monitoring, GRAT tracking, interest tracing), and monthly custom reporting (e.g., cash flow, balance sheets, tax projections, etc.)
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses with detailed assumptions to forecast future liquidity needs. Be very well versed in excel, primarily in relation to building financial models, with a view to conducting “what-if” analyses

Who we're looking for:

  • CPA required; CFP or CFA designation desired
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, private equity investments, hedge fund, equities, bonds, derivatives, alternatives, and OTC/Structured Product investments
  • High level portfolio accounting skills
  • Familiar with distribution notices, capital calls and statements
  • Strong orientation towards mentoring and educating wealthy individuals at multi-generational levels on financial matters
  • Demonstrated capability managing people and a comfort level with small office environments
  • Proven ability in the role of trusted advisor with fiduciary responsibility
  • Possession of the technological capabilities necessary to fully utilize investment management, tracking, reporting and modeling software, including expert Excel skills
  • Detail oriented and meticulous
  • Excellent people and communication skills, particularly in dealing with high net worth individuals. Flexibility and staying calm under pressure an important skill
