The Role

Outreach, Inc. is seeking a talented, driven Controller to own and evolve an innovative technology software company’s accounting, controls, financial statements, and related processes. The Controller will drive continual improvement of the accounting processes and controls, including implementation of new accounting systems and system integration points.

The ideal candidate is a strong accounting leader with robust accounting management & controller experience, built on excellent problem solving, and cross-group collaboration skills. They will be a hands-on and results-oriented individual who has successfully built and/or transformed financial processes and reporting capabilities, ideally with a subscriptions business model.

 

Primary responsibilities are supervising and reviewing daily financial accounting activities. Focus areas include process improvements for efficiency and scalability, implementation of key software (ERP, Rev Rec), and creating internal controls.

 

The role will oversee all fiscal activity for the Company, including accounting activities, budget variance reporting and cash management (AP, Payroll, and Equipment Purchases, etc.).

 

This position will report to the VP of Finance and Legal.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

  • Own the monthly and quarterly close processes with a focus on driving improvements (i.e. quality of output, efficiency & speed of producing) to enable optimal business decisions
  • Support the business owners in licensing pricing and packaging implications for GAAP, revenue recognition and ability to achieve monetary outcomes
  • Own the development and implementation of accounting policies, including rolling out 606 changes
  • Support the board of directors, quarterly board presentations, audit and compensation committee needs
  • Help grow the business internationally, with multiple currencies, companies and tax requirements
  • Establish and maintain an effective level of internal controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data
  • Proactively managing the Company’s cash, including the planning and forecasting of weekly, monthly and annual cash flows
  • Prepare and review the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Assist with formulating the financial objectives and policies of the company
  • Lead annual audit process and manage relationship with external auditor
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly budget variance processes
  • Play a leading role in both the formulation of requirements, selection and the implementation of a new ERP

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of accounting and accounting management in early stage and corporate accounting-type roles
  • Experience supporting a high-growth SaaS business preferred
  • Deep technical GAAP expertise, with experience in technology/software companies
  • Proven track record of building new capabilities, with a process orientation
  • Strong team leader and developer of talent
  • NetSuite, or similar cloud based accounting system, implementation experience preferred
  • Self-starter; driven to get things done
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and cross org influence to accomplish complex projects
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral
  • A leader who is hands-on by nature and has an exceptional level of timeliness and accuracy in his/her work
  • Unquestionable ethics that drive leadership and behavior
  • Open and direct personal style
  • BA/BS required
  • CPA required
