Glowforge has created a 3D laser printer: a beautiful device that sits on your desk and uses a beam of light the width of a single hair to create almost anything, from handbags to robots. It can print from raw materials like wood, leather, cloth – even chocolate. And we’ve got more than 10,000 excited, creative, and delightful customers eagerly waiting for it to arrive on their doorstep.

After wrapping up the biggest 30-day crowdfunding campaign in history, we put together a team of incredible people who we are humbled and excited to call our co-workers. We hail from tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Apple, and top startups like Tableau, Tesla, and Evernote. One thing we have all have in common? We want to build a future where printing a wallet (or a lamp, or a birthday card, or a stunning sushi wrap) is just as easy as printing a resume.

We’re about to introduce the world to a beautiful device that will catalyze a change in the way things are made. In every department, in every role, our company is for people who are passionate about creating things - from handbags to robots. If that sounds like you, we’re going to do amazing things together. We can’t wait to meet you. This is a full-time role in Seattle.

Why we need you

At the start of our crowdfunding campaign, we were a tiny startup with an interesting idea. Five years later and thousands of units sold and in the hands of our customers, we are at the forefront of a massive, untapped market opportunity with unprecedented demand and excitement with millions in revenue at our fingertips.

We are passionately creating a business that will last for decades. For that, we must balance forward thinking and bold steps with careful analysis and rigorous controls - and that’s where you come in. By helping us track our expenses and revenues against the plan, you can hold us accountable and safeguard us against losing sight of the fundamentals because of our rocketship growth. Your work is essential to our longstanding success!

Here’s what you’ll be doing

As a staff accountant your first task will always be to ensure that we follow the highest levels of care and integrity. You will be responsible for processing purchase orders, entering vendor invoices, and initiating weekly payment runs. You will also support our employees by reviewing employee expense reports prior to reimbursement and reviewing and recording our corporate credit card charges. You will be responsible for processing credit verifications and collecting payment from customers who place orders with purchase orders to ensure a strong cash flow. You will also be responsible for portions of the general ledger accounting duties, reconciling bank accounts on a daily basis, and playing a large role in our monthly financial statement close and reporting process. As we grow we are exposed to more risk, you will help mitigate that risk by reviewing decisions on transactions from our external customers and vendors. Accounting and logistics work hand in hand and you will help resolve customer order issues between our contract manufacturer and Glowforge. In addition, as a startup, you may be asked to do something completely new, that we don’t know we need yet. Being hands on, you won’t hesitate to jump in and solve real business issues. You will be part of a tight-knit group of finance professionals and together strive to deliver on the company’s vision without neglecting the day-to-day business needs.

We are a company for people who are passionate about bringing things to life. If you relish the challenge of growing a small company from tens of millions of dollars in pre-orders to billions in revenue, you’re going to have an amazing time at Glowforge.
