Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. Job Summary


Code.org is looking for a motivated product design intern with the creativity and flexibility to assist design work across a variety of our web applications, marketing materials, and educational tutorials. This is a three-month internship.

You will get familiar with the role and responsibilities of product design in a quick-paced environment. Your work will have the potential to reach millions of students and teachers all over the world.


Areas of responsibility include


• Assisting with illustrations and marketing materials

• Creating wireframes

• Building interactive prototypes

• Redlining

• Doing user research


You will need to be able to be comfortable managing ambiguity, think creatively to solve problems, and be able to communicate clearly your design ideas and rationale.


Experience and Qualifications


The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for improving education. This person has a familiarity with Code.org’s mission and experience using our site.


The candidate should have


• A firm grasp on gestalt principles, information architecture, and the fundamentals of design

• An understanding of responsiveness, localization, and accessibility

• A portfolio of 3-6 pieces that demonstrates foundational graphic design and illustration principles

• A resilient work ethic and committed desire to improve above and beyond what is asked

• Ability to communicate with engineers, product managers, and marketing team to create solutions that are well designed and technically feasible
