Job Description

While the Lead Designer comes up with creative concepts and the Graphic Designer executes them, it’s the Production Designer who brings them to life. That’s why strong typographic and layout skills, strict attention to detail, and outstanding organizational, project management, file-organization and archiving skills are a must.

The production artist job description often includes the ability to:

  • Collaborate closely with lead designer, designers and developers
  • Prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing
  • Make various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during productionProvide image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation
  • Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
  • Create PDFs for print and client review
  • Conduct press checks
  • Prepare images for online and mobile applications
  • Catalog and reference art for future projects
  • Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise with both the creative team and the printer

Days at Accolade are fast-paced, energizing, and collaborative. Every day – and every hour – has you working on something cool and creative. A typical day may include:

  • Daily check-in with manager and design team (of 2) to review projects for the day, deliverables, priorities and support needs.
  • Interacting throughout the day with the design team to review materials, get input and insight.
  • Work within our Jira project management application to post updates, invite feedback from the team, track project progress, and communicate updates.
  • Support designers with executing feedback and edits to existing creative.
  • Frequent team and cross-functional meetings to discuss projects, expectations, timelines, process, feedback, outcomes and success metrics.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Marketing or relate field 
  • You have one to three years production design experience in college and in a business environment.
  • Samples of work or portfolio and mechanical production samples required.
  • Solid knowledge of printing processes and should be adept with software applications such as FlightCheck, the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with digital content such as websites, social media, online advertising and email campaigns may be required
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Process-oriented self-starters.
