Blue Nile is seeking a talented, business-savvy corporate attorney to support and advise a fast growing e-commerce business. This role is responsible with mitigating risk and facilitating business cross-functionally across a variety of teams. The corporate counsel will advise all levels of the business, including the executive team.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, revise, and negotiate all types of agreements, with an emphasis on technology vendor, marketing, and supplier agreements.
- Interpret, advise, and provide practical business counsel to management on applicable laws, rulings and regulations relevant to e-commerce, including consumer protection, marketing, and immigration.
- Oversee Blue Nile’s privacy program, including managing data subject requests and internal data governance and protection.
- Manage the governance of Blue Nile’s global subsidiaries.
- Design, build, and improve legal department processes to keep pace with growth, while appropriately managing risk.
- Manage Blue Nile’s intellectual property portfolio, and review Blue Nile’s marketing copy.
- Support the business by managing Blue Nile’s insurance coverage portfolio.
- Support general business operations and complete special projects as requested.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience as a practicing attorney (prior in-house experience preferred)
- Current member in good standing with the Washington Bar
- Strong drafting, negotiating and analytical skills and deal-making experience
- Experience in recommending practical solutions to internal clients while mitigating risk.
- Willingness to learn and develop in multiple practice areas.
- Decisive, organized, efficient and detail oriented with demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills.
- Ability to effectively present information including effective communication of business performance, project status and project changes in one-on-one and group meetings throughout the organization.
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills; able to work under tight deadlines to achieve goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with technology clients.
- Experience with consumer privacy laws, including CCPA and GDPR.
- E-commerce, particularly international e-commerce, experience is a plus.
