  • Pitching article, op-ed, and interview ideas to national, regional, and industry publications
  • Collaborating with in-house editor to create on-going content stream (via Medium, LinkedIn, blog, and/or other managed channels) and/or pieces for third-party placement on behalf of CEO
  • Leveraging and expanding industry and media contacts to build on-going, strategic relationships on behalf of Gravity and CEO
  • Identifying worthwhile speaking engagements to promote CEO’s thought leadership and/or Gravity’s brand within relevant industries; pitching speaking topics to event organizers and negotiating appearance fees and terms on behalf of CEO
  • Managing and growing CEO’s personal social media accounts by posting, sharing, and commenting on relevant content and connecting with key media and industry figures
  • Maintaining, updating, and building media contact list

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • 5+ years experience in PR and/or personal branding for high-profile business leaders, celebrities, personalities, and/or thought leaders
  • An extensive network and strong relationships in national media (online, print, TV, radio, podcasts) with particular focus on business and current events
  • Experience creating and executing out-of-the-box promotional ideas and events
  • Demonstrated skill in brainstorming, pitching, and placing relevant and timely content to national media
  • Willingness to adapt to CEO’s preferred style of communication and collaboration and ability to manage up when necessary
  • Flexibility and adaptability if goals of team, company, and/or CEO change
  • Readiness to share and accept feedback to ensure constant improvement

About the position:

  • Gravity is based in Seattle, but we are open to hiring remotely, especially if the ideal candidate lives in a major media market like New York or Los Angeles. If you work remotely, you’ll be expected to travel to Seattle (and possibly other places where we have markets) a few times a year, but the scheduling of such trips is flexible
  • Employment status is flexible. We are open to hiring full-time or as contract position depending on the ideal candidate’s needs.

About our CEO

Dan Price founded Gravity Payments out of his college dorm room with a mission to help small business owners avoid the hassles and scummy business practices so often involved in accepting credit card payments. In 2015, he gained national attention after announcing a $70,000 minimum wage at his company and calling on business leaders to accept more responsibility for their employees. Since then he has become an outspoken advocate of income equality, paying a living wage, and the role of business in creating a more just and equitable society. His message and Gravity’s story have been covered by The New York Times, PBS NewsHour, The Today Show, Inc. Magazine, Esquire, NBC Nightly News, and numerous other publications.
