Position Summary

As an Enterprise Systems Architect, you will be driving the strategy, architecture, and technology stack that powers F5 business. In a dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to work on both a diverse range of critical initiatives and projects as well as to take the lead on high visibility tactical objectives. You will demonstrate a breadth of full-stack experiences including scalable micro-service architecture, API design, third-party integrations and cloud services, and will have an ability to quickly ramp-up and assess new technology value vs. risks. Along the way you will collaborate on the development of systems architectures working closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, Developers, and other functional teams at F5.

The scope of the Enterprise Architecture function includes: Enterprise Architecture Strategy (setting direction and finding alignment across our business units and corporate functions); Technology Innovation; Emerging Technologies; Sophisticated Systems Architecture; and M&A from an IT perspective.

Leadership skills

  • Develops partnerships and influences others both directly and indirectly
  • Promotes increased connectivity from a systems lens between groups and departments to ensure our initiatives are moving in a direction that supports our target state architecture
  • Collaborates with Product Development, Stakeholders, Third Parties, and Technology leaders to encourage a Customer, Systems, and Data Driven culture
  • Partners with solution architects and product managers to shape end-to-end target state architecture solutions
  • Communicates and leads effectively across organizations
  • Provides coaching and support to others within the organization
  • Guides technology strategies to effectively deliver business capabilities
  • Evaluates trends, determines applicability and translates targeted architecture
  • Demonstrates accountability, makes timely and appropriate decisions on initiatives and programs
  • Takes calculated risks and challenges the status quo

Technological Experience/Expertise

  • Proven experience leading, defining and collaborating with a group of partners to define, negotiate, and detail sophisticated systems architectures for new enterprise capabilities
  • Proven experience building architectures embodying components in the cloud, third-party solutions, and on premises with attention to how interconnections, data flows and security of the solution would operate
  • Experience defining systems architectures built around enterprise tools such as Salesforce, Zuora, Oracle, Boomi, API gateways, etc.
  • General knowledge of security (authentication, authorization, data integrity, data encryption), data privacy, microservices, cloud technologies, integration patterns and how these come together as crucial components of our systems
  • Practical experience crafting RESTful APIs and coding in one or more modern coding languages
  • Basic understanding of core data related concepts such as data governance, data analytics, reading data models, high level AI/ML, and data integration
  • Comfortable presenting to people from C-Level to developers
  • Passionate in helping people and teams achieve their very best

Other Responsibilities

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in an Enterprise Architecture and/or Systems Architect Role
  • 7+ years with a broad range of IT systems related to marketing, selling, finance/accounting, and database systems
  • 5+ years designing distributed systems design
  • 3+ years designing and/or implementing solutions in a major public cloud (Azure, GCP, AWS)
  • 2+ years designing and/or implementing RESTful APIs
  • 2+ years Agile and/or Agile SAFe
  • Strong collaboration, team building, and interpersonal skills
  • Desired: Previous experience as a software architect and/or software engineer
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience; Computer Science or Math background preferred
