The Role

As the Director of the Outreach Technical Program Manager team, you are a versatile leader who is constantly evaluating the state of product delivery and implementing best practices to make sure our software quality and solutions scale as our business grows. This is a pivotal role to develop a new TPM practice that is flexible and stage appropriate, an organization that hires and develops leadership talent, and makes a real impact through consistent and quality delivery of useful and valued features to Outreach customers.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

  • Hiring, on-boarding and maturing a team of Technical Program Managers to drive quality product execution at Outreach in agile environment
  • Developing common best practices across the organization around backlog prioritization, requirements validation, delivery planning and status reporting
  • Assisting in quarterly and annual capacity planning against roadmap priorities
  • Defining and tracking key performance metrics for the team
  • Creating career paths and defining TPM levels
  • Managing talent and career growth through effective regular feedback, active mentoring and performance management
  • Being point of contact to client success and support teams to integrate voice of customer feedback into backlogs and triage bugs
  • Providing strategic input to product management organization on larger roadmap investments
  • A player-coach, directly project manage one or two high-profile, cross-team initiatives at any given time
  • Establishing a safe and inclusive culture of curiosity, accountability and quality

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of practical experience as a TPM or Product Owner, preferably in a commercial product context
  • 2-5 years experience directly managing, coaching and mentoring staff
  • Experience implementing effective process changes in an organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to influence at an executive level
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and decisions
  • Comfortable discussing technical concepts, managing trade-offs, incorporating feedback, and evaluating opportunistic new ideas with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable with the velocity of change that is standard in a high growth company
  • Leads with integrity
