Overview

The Direct3D Ecosystem team builds the glue that connects D3D rendering technologies to the outside world: presentation pipeline and swapchains, adapter enumeration and selection policies, hybrid adapter infrastructure, and gamer-delighting features such as AutoHDR. We're looking for an experienced and technical lead to manage this impactful team. As a Senior Software Engineer Lead you will be managing the team that owns and develops the presentation layers of the Windows graphics stack.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of IC (Individual Contributors) developers through product planning, feature development, quality control, shipping and servicing.
  • Coordinate requirements and delivery across a wide range of partner teams and companies.
  • Work closely with IHV (Independent Hardware Vendor) partners to advance the state of the industry and deliver robust new features with proficient hardware and driver support.
  • Maintain proficient engineering culture while growing the capacity and skills of the team to take on ever bigger challenges.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience shipping and maintaining low level systems software.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of commercial software development experience, including at least 3 as a people manager.
  • Familiarity with GPU programming models and graphics APIs (Direct3D, OpenGL, Vulkan, etc.)
  • Windows driver development (WDDM).
  • Game development or other equivalent experience.

Software Engineering M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
