About the Role 


Highspot is seeking a highly experienced and talented Principal Software Engineer to join our Analytics division. This role focuses exclusively on frontend development and requires extensive experience in building Data Visualization platforms with a deep understanding of analytics. You will leverage your 10+ years of frontend software engineering experience to lead the development of our innovative Data Visualization platform, utilizing Javascript/Typescript, React, and GraphQL. This platform leverages Highspot’s unified data platform to discover, interpret, and communicate meaningful analytics insights to customers. Your position is pivotal in shaping the frontend architecture and guiding a team of engineers to deliver a world-class user experience, translating complex analytics data into intuitive and interactive visualizations.

What You'll Do

  • Frontend Technical Leadership:
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our Data Visualization platform, focusing on the user interface and user experience tailored for analytics.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to a team of frontend engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Drive the architectural decisions specifically related to frontend technologies and ensure the scalability and maintainability of the frontend codebase.
  • Frontend Development:
  • Utilize your expertise in Javascript/Typescript, React, and GraphQL to build and enhance sophisticated data visualization components that make complex analytics data accessible and actionable.
  • Implement responsive and high-performance frontend applications that deliver a seamless user experience, with a strong emphasis on visual presentation and interactivity.
  • Ensure the code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to frontend best practices.
  • Analytics Integration:
  • Translate complex analytics data into intuitive and interactive visualizations that empower users to gain insights and make data-driven decisions.
  • Work closely with data engineers and data scientists to understand data structures and ensure seamless integration of analytics into the frontend.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including backend engineers, product managers, and designers to define and deliver frontend product features focused on analytics.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to stakeholders at all levels, with a focus on frontend implications.
  • Actively participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall frontend product vision with an emphasis on analytics.
  • Problem Solving & Innovation:
  • Apply your deep knowledge of frontend-specific algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns to solve complex technical challenges in the context of data visualization and analytics.
  • Stay abreast of the latest frontend technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant advancements into the platform.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the frontend team.

Your Background

  • Experience:
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on frontend development.
  • Proven track record in building and leading the development of data visualization platforms with a primary focus on frontend technologies and analytics integration.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Deep expertise in Javascript/Typescript, React, and GraphQL.
  • Strong understanding of frontend development principles, including state management, component design, and performance optimization.
  • Extensive experience in creating interactive and visually appealing data visualization components for analytics.
  • Analytics Proficiency:
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytics data into intuitive and actionable visualizations.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers and data scientists to integrate analytics into the frontend.
  • Leadership:
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring frontend engineering teams.
  • Ability to drive frontend technical strategy and make high-impact decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex frontend and analytics technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

Base salary range: $167,826 - $252,174 Employees may also be eligible for bonuses, stock options, and other forms of compensation.


The above represents total expected compensation for this role. Actual compensation will depend on various job-related factors, including, but not limited to, location, experience, and job qualifications.

Our HQ is located within walking distance of Pike Place Market and the Seattle Piers. With amazing 360 views of the Puget Sound and Downtown Seattle. The only downside, there are almost too many places to pick for your lunch meetings.
