THE OPPORTUNITY
Gympass is looking for an experienced and highly talented VP of Content & Organic Growth to join our marketing team (reporting to the CMO). This person will lead our team to develop a content strategy that builds our brand, engages our audience - and most importantly - drives more organic traffic and lead growth through our website.
We have a small but mighty team of SEO and content marketers - but we are ready to properly invest in this effort in order to take our organic growth to new heights. With this newly created role, we are looking for someone to build this team whilst supporting, mentoring and pushing our existing team to drive more meaningful results.
As the VP, Content and Organic Growth, you'll help define and establish best practices for content and organic growth based on a well-founded and tightly aligned SEO keyword strategy (working in partnership with the SEO team). You'll be a seasoned marketing executive, strategic growth hacker, marketing visionary, and team leader.
Our offices are in NYC, Houston, and Los Angeles. This person can work from any office or remotely based in New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina,Texas, Utah, California, Georgia, Illinois, or Washington.
YOUR IMPACT

  • Develop a global content strategy framework, including content pillars, messaging, the optimal mix of formats and distribution channels
  • Produce innovative content assets from blog posts, to multimedia content, and even interactive tools ( that generate leads ) - we want someone that can dream big here, but also back up those dreams with the organic keyword volume to warrant the investment.
  • Create thought-provoking and engaging content and obsess over how it converts users throughout the funnel, working closely with the growth team to analyze metrics and conversion
  • Develop a deep understanding of Gympass' audiences and their locality, understanding what motivates them, so you can craft content that's aligned with their needs and interests across all markets
  • Measure and monitor content effectiveness, and communicate/report on how content strategy is contributing to business goals
  • Leverage analytics and data to understand what types of content most engage target audiences and continue to iterate on the content strategy (for example, comparing content performance vs. channel performance ).
  • Work with key partners to ensure optimized distribution of content across key channels
  • Build a team of remarkable humans (internal and external) across editing, content creation (onsite and offsite), link building, and any other areas you believe are important.
  • Establish work flows and processes for requesting, creating, editing, publishing content


WHO YOU ARE

  • An experienced professional with 10+ years working in blogging, content marketing and/or organic growth, and at least 8+ years of managerial experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success creating high performing content for different channels and formats
  • A strong understanding of the importance of keyword search volume, and how doing this properly is where content marketing starts. Understanding what mix of low difficulty and high difficulty phrases to go after, and how to structure your content pillars.
  • Have a dual-minded approach: You're highly creative and are/were an excellent writer in the past, but now you're even more excellent at being process-driven, thinking about scale, and rely on data to make decisions - so you hit your organic traffic and lead goals.
  • Deep understanding of SEO best practices.
  • Hyper-organized and a strong ability to prioritize on the go.
  • Strong knowledge of social networking platforms preferred - Instagram, Linkedin, Facebook, Pinterest, Youtube, Twitter - and the role they play in aiding content distribution.
  • Collaborative working style with a focus on building relationships across teams and promoting content best practices throughout the company.
  • High energy level and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changeable environment, comfortable with ambiguity.
