The candidate will be responsible for:
- Identifying and addressing issues escalated, toward immediate relief and sustainable resolution.
- Using broad knowledge and experience of systems and networking to proactively address and prevent incidents while constantly improving processes.
- Document and maintain relief and resolution guides in knowledge-base articles and standard operating procedures parallel to our scalable and sustainable model.
- Training and mentoring internal stakeholders.
- Identify and collaborate with appropriate teams to improve tools and processes such as event monitoring, automation and introduction of new tools as required for improved efficiency.

The Lab Hosting Services team runs the environment where next becomes Now. We are the tip of the spear for the Service Engineering organization that designs, builds and operates the ServiceNow cloud platform across our global data center infrastructure. Our team works integrally with network, hardware, systems, automation and software engineering teams throughout the company, pushing the envelope of cloud computing. Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability to work in technically complex and ambiguous environments, challenge status quo and use our own product in innovative ways. Our job is thinking outside the box to help our customers deliver the next generation of cloud platform excellence.
In order to be successful in this role, we need someone who has:
A solid foundation in networking including routing, switching, security and load balancing. A proven track record and experience in working in an industry-leading operations organization. A background in or exposure to software development such as scripting, automation, and SDLC would be beneficial.
The following is a list of requirements for this role:
- Possess a solid understanding of and have experience with most of the following network technologies: 802.1q, HSRP/VRRP, OSPF, ISIS, MCLAG, BGP, NAT, ACLs, IPSEC, and SNMP. Knowledge of MPLS is a plus.
- Deep, hands-on experience with TCP/IP (common packet headers, protocol innerworkings) and routing protocols (BGP, ISIS and OSPF)
- Solid knowledge and familiarity with Juniper’s JunOS.
- Knowledge or experience with Cisco IOS considered a plus.
- Knowledge and experience of F5 load-balancers required.
- Palo Alto firewall experience a plus.
- In depth knowledge of troubleshooting and monitoring tools like tcpdump & Wireshark required
- Software development/scripting skills (Python, Ansible, Javascript) and SDLC exposure (Agile) are highly preferred.
- Azure and or AWS experience highly desired.
- Linux/Unix basic system administration and troubleshooting knowledge are plus.
- Cumulus Linux knowledge and experience are a plus.
- Ixia Load GEN experience a plus.
- Layer 1 switch experience a plus.
- JNCIE or CCIE preferred.
