About the Role

This leadership role oversees two distinct but highly related teams: Data Science and Engineering and Data Engineering.

The Data Science and Engineering team researches and operationalizes machine learning models of many types (clustering, time series, image, natural language…) across a broad range of challenges (forecasting, performance optimization, correlation…). This team is key to delivering the software-facilitated business insights and recommendations and automated performance optimizations that elevate marketers to achieve more than they ever could hope to on their own.

The Data Engineering team provide the big data processing capabilities backing all of New Engen’s business: data science, analytics, reporting, and application needs. Leveraging a combination of AWS service offerings, open source frameworks, and brilliant coding, this team ingests data from many sources (internal and external), works out the best way to structure and store this data, and delivers scalable and performant interfaces serving all facets of the business – from historical needs to near-real-time data.

Qualifications

You can effectively manage teams to deliver your goals

You have strong experience leading technical discussions and mentoring junior team members

You have strong software architecture experience building back-end services and data pipelines

You have experience developing with: hadoop/spark/hive or another distributed compute platform for big data and large compute tasks

You have experience architecting software to deploy on AWS or another cloud platform

You have experience deploying machine learning or advanced analytical models into a production environment

You have experience with multiple programming languages and can perform code reviews

You have data warehouse or big data storage architecture experience

You have experience working with distributed databases, warehouse systems, and sql/no-sql databases

You have experience working with: fact+dimension data modeling

Extras that Will Give you an Edge

You have experience with Python and Java

You have experience with relevant AWS offerings

You have worked in a SOA/microservices environment building RESTful web services

You have experience working with Atlassian development tools
