Position Summary:
The Pet Acquisition Analytics Department at Trupanion is hiring a passionate Data Scientist with the creativity to come up with data-focused solutions to problems, produce deep-dive analysis, and communicate results. You will be able to work independently, have an unflagging curiosity and strong analytics skills, and share our joint passions of data & pets. This role will work very closely with cross-functional business stakeholders, engineers, actuaries to understand and measure business performance and deliver actionable insights that will impact the success of Trupanion partnerships.
Candidates for this position have the option to work remotely from anywhere in the US, or out of our Seattle office, depending on their preference.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Information expert with the ability to understand & translate data into recommended actions.
  • Provide timely insights to support decisions that will shape partnership strategies.
  • Provide performance reporting of results against the organization's KPI's, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Build and augment analytical capabilities in marketing, contact strategies, segmentation, lifetime value, attribution, and acquisition leveraging lessons learned and best practices.
  • Develops ad hoc analyses from start to finish: conceptualization, data gathering, analysis, presentation, and monitoring.
  • Fosters effective working relationships with key internal business partners across the organization to create an environment of knowledge sharing.


Education, Registration & Certification:

  • Degree in a quantitative field, mathematics, computer science, physics, economics, engineering, statistics, operations research, quantitative social science, etc.
  • Candidates with data analytics, data governance, and management certifications from Coursera, DataCamp, or other comparable MOOC will be preferred.


Experience:

  • 1-2 years experience in data science or data analytics projects
  • 2-3 years' proven track record with BI and data visualizations
  • 1-2 years experience in Data Governance and Management


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Expert level in advanced Microsoft Excel, SQL, and database management processes.
  • Beginner VBA experience is required to help understand reports in excel.
  • Intermediate python or R skills is a plus
  • Data visualization and dashboard development experience including Sisense, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills. Strong negotiation and group facilitation skills; ability to move a process forward, while meeting the needs of clients.
  • Superior ability to manage, manipulate and analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations using technology.
  • Highly driven and motivated to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with minimal direction
