UX Designer, Patient Experience
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to help us elevate the experience that Navigating Cancer’s provides for cancer patients. Our patients rely on us to keep them connected to their care team and provide them with essential information about their treatment. Currently our patients are primarily using a desktop “portal” to access critical information about their care and communicate with their care team. One of our key initiatives in 2020 is to develop a new mobile-first patient experience for our most utilized portal features while supporting additional capabilities for patient engagement. As the design lead you will work closely with product, design, and development team members to accelerate our progress. To be successful you’ll need to be able to jump right into work that is already in development as well as help us flesh out the details of our longer term patient experience vision. The ideal candidate is able to develop solutions end-to-end starting with loosely defined user requirements all the way through to fit and finish with our development team. This position will be located onsite at the Navigating Cancer office in downtown Seattle.
 
Responsibilities
● Work closely with our patient experience product manager to refine product requirements and produce concepts that can be validated with patients.
● Build clickable prototypes and conduct user feedback sessions independently.
● Help to develop a design system for the patient experience. Work with the UX and development teams to define UI styles and behaviors and document it in a shared design library.
● Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of the user-centered design process
● Define information architecture, workflows and functional designs for patient centered workflows.
● Work closely with our patient experience team to articulate design solutions, groom user stories and support active sprint work.
● Create and maintain a patient experience demo that can be used by various stakeholders to share with potential clients and partners.
Qualifications
● 7+ years of experience as a UX designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar.
● A clear understanding of accessibility design standards and the ability to demonstrate how these standards have been implemented in previous projects you’ve worked on.
● Solid understanding of human centered, interaction, and usability design principles.
● Expertise in responsive web design and a working knowledge of design for iOS and Android devices.
● Demonstrated understanding of human centered design.
● Portfolio of work demonstrating UX and visual design capabilities including approach and process.
● Experience with all the tools and disciplines of UX Design: interactive prototypes, visual design mockups, journey maps and work-flows, user-testing methods and persona development.
● Without writing code, understand the technical possibilities and limitations of the solutions that you develop.
● Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and work within deadlines with little supervision
● Ability to grasp multiple product requirements with careful attention to detail
● You are hardworking, flexible and empathetic.
● You have a positive, upbeat outlook with team emphasis.
Expertise in any of the following areas is a plus:
● Designing for healthcare
● Designing for iOS and/or Android devices
● Front-end, iOS or Android development
● User research
● Interaction design
● Writing UI content
