Job Description
Now Design System team
As part of the design system team, you'll design usable, scalable, best-in-class components
and data visualizations to power ServiceNow's new UI platform. We're serious about user
experience. Our integrated team of designers, engineers, and product strategists sweat the
details and we're seeing the results. The Now Design System is changing the way we create
products—for thousands of designers and engineers inside our company and even more in
our customers' offices.
What you’ll do:
- Apply a system-thinking approach to web components and data visualizations that can be configured and reused to build unique experiences across different products, applications, and use cases
- Work closely with product management and engineering, providing design perspective to help ensure a unified and cohesive experience across the ServiceNow ecosystem
- Engage across teams to ensure our design system solutions solve specific customer problems with an approach that scales elegantly
- Be a key player through the whole process – requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, release, and support
- Create specifications and usage guidance documentation that is easy to understand and supports our community
- Be a champion for our system and communicating design decisions to product design, engineering, and product
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
Who you are:
- 10+ years of experience in UX or interaction design with heavy emphasis on system design
- An inspiring portfolio showing us how you have researched and crafted great experiences, seeing them through to released solutions
- Ability to understand and distill complex problems into elegant, informed solutions
- A solid design foundation that includes UX/UI design principles: visual design, color theory, interaction design, and user-centered design
- Experience mentoring or leading designers on complex projects
- A collaborative and thoughtful leader and teammate with a growth mindset that values diverse perspectives
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with multi-functional and multi-disciplined teams
- A natural systems thinker with strong attention to detail and design consistency
- Strong understanding of web UI technologies (HTML, CSS. Javascript)
- Comfortable communicating design rationale based on reason, research, and data while helping to rationalize and explain trade-offs
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision in a fluid, fast-paced, environment
- Expert in current design tools such as Figma
- Ability to document design work clearly and efficiently to ensure design quality in implementation
Bonus Points
- Experience working within an enterprise-level design system
- Experience working in complex, technical environments
- Experience in creating content and/or designing with compliance to WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA guidelines
- Understanding of the importance and approaches to solve for internationalization and localization
- Passionate for creating data visualization solutions

Work Personas
Work personas are categories that are assigned to employees depending on the nature of their work. Employees will fall into one of three categories: Remote, Flexible or Required in Office.
Required in Office
A required in office work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office. This persona is required to work from their assigned workplace location 100% of the work week based on the business needs of their role.
Flexible
A flexible work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office and will work from their assigned workplace location roughly 3 days/week or less (generally around 40-60% of the work week). Flexible employees may choose to work the remaining working time from their workplace location or home. Flexible employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
Remote
A remote work persona is defined as an employee who performs their responsibilities exclusively outside of a ServiceNow workplace and is not contracted or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office, including those whose place of work (pursuant to their terms and conditions of employment) is their home. Remote employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
