Position Summary:
Trupanion, North America's fastest-growing pet insurance provider is looking for a software developer to build and evolve our applications created on the Appian platform. In this role, you'll work on designing and building scalable systems to support the rapid growth of the company.
Candidates for this position have the option to work remotely from anywhere in the US, or out of our Seattle office, depending on their preference.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and implementing Appian applications and workflows for Trupanion's claim processing scenarios
  • Developing strong relationships with dev team colleagues, claims team leaders, and specialists in the claims business to spec, design, and deliver new features
  • Working with architects and dev team management to build clean, maintainable, and effective solutions


Qualifications
Education, Registration & Certification:

  • Bachelor's level degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience


Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to build software solutions on Appian
  • Experience with the fundamentals of team software development: source control systems, release management, and agile development


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Software development skills, including building UIs and Workflows, on current versions of Appian (version 19.4 or later)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business analysts, business leaders, and subject-matter-experts to ensure solutions meet business needs
  • Knowledge and understanding of software design using S.O.L.I.D. principles, or equivalent methodologies
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, or a similar software lifecycle tool, for sprint work and bug tracking


High level of understanding of and experience with SOME of the following (knowledge of all is not required or expected):

  • Interacting with and designing RESTful web services APIs
  • Experience with SQL Server queries and stored procedures, preferably on MySQL
  • Skilled at debugging distributed applications using logging-based approaches
  • Familiarity with unit testing, and testing approaches for Workflows and web UIs
