The Role:
Donuts is seeking a driven self-starter to become a member of our Technology and Operations Team, we work in a demanding and geographically diverse production environment that presents many technical challenges. To be successful in this position the Manager, DevOps will need to have excellent technical and operational depth, as well as have strong communication and people skills. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time. The Manager must also demonstrate the ability to work quickly to analyze and resolve issues, architect highly available systems that meet business requirements and maintain project timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Run and operate best-in-class Cloud environment and technology stacks, for a company that plays a critical role in the Global Internet Infrastructure.
- Manage Operations for Cloud and DevOps Team.
- Responsible for the developing, implementing and support infrastructure on premise and in the cloud.
- Architecting and implementing systems to provide reliable and scalable services using the Linux operating system.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex multi-system issues in a production environment.
- Provide technical leadership in design and administration of geo-diverse, highly available systems and platforms.
- Promote infrastructure reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing industry standard and operational best-practices.
- Plan, facilitate, and participate in systems and platform upgrades, service and preventative maintenance activities.
- Document the operations of system processes, procedures, and configurations.
- Instrument, analyze, and publish systems and platform capacity, performance, and availability metrics.
- Stay abreast of modern systems and platform technology, and possess advanced knowledge of industry standard systems as well as platform tools and methodology.
- Experience with multiple colocation data center facilities with thousands of servers within a mixed Windows and Linux environment.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of management experience within a technical and operational role.
- Strong verbal, and organizational skills required, with ability to work with both technical and non-technical people.
- A minimum of 7 years experience implementing and supporting systems, platforms, and physical layer systems in mission-critical production operational environments.
- Experience architecting infrastructure solutions and supporting large applications in the AWS cloud.
- Familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform and Azure.
- Proven ability to optimize production web servers and services for high volume internet traffic.
- Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Centos, Ubuntu, HP-UX or FreeBSD. (Windows and Linux interoperability experience is a plus).
- Previous experience with VMWare, storage systems and Linux Enterprise Management Systems.
- Ability to manage a Linux infrastructure using standard enterprise tools such as, Spacewalk, Cobbler, Directory Services and Ansible.
- Architect, implement and manage infrastructure services such as DNS, routing tables, DHCP, radius, 2FA/MFA systems.
- Solid experience configuring and optimizing Linux based servers such as PostgreSQL, bind, httpd, nginx, rabbitmq and elasticsearch.
- Experience with system performance analysis and remediating performance issues.
- Advanced level knowledge of TCP/IP, RAID, FC, Ethernet protocols.
- Ability to provide Tier 2/3 support on all production, non-production and physical layer systems, coordinating with Vendor support where necessary and participate in 24/7 on-call shared schedule.
- Advanced knowledge of network services including DNS, LDAP, Postfix, NTP and DHCP.
- Experience implementing and supporting new systems and platform technologies, and understanding the associated business implications with a minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to architect highly available systems to meet business requirements.
- Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills as well as be able to provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
Education:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
