Job Summary

Do you want to be a key part of a growing team that will have a major impact on LevelTen’s growth? Do you love taking on complex projects that are core to how a business operates? We’re looking for a highly skilled, motivated, passionate, and creative engineer to help build the analytical systems that drive the LevelTen Energy platform. You will expand your knowledge of how global energy and financial markets work and help design and build systems that evaluate and monitor many of the largest renewable energy systems around the world.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be a key contributing member of our “Analysis Squad” consisting of you, another senior engineer, three mid-level engineers, an energy analyst and a product manager.
  • Design and write scalable services that enhance our core system for analyzing both planned and operating renewable energy projects (primarily utility scale Wind, Solar and Storage).
  • Wrangle large global datasets covering historical and forecast data for markets, weather and equipment.
  • Work closely with energy analysts and product management to understand requirements.
  • Work with other engineering leads across squads to impact our entire software platform.
  • Incorporate secure coding practices into development lifecycle and work closely with our security and operations team to deliver high quality and secure code to production.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience building commercially available, online software products
  • Strong experience with Python and large datasets
  • Strong experience with data pipelines, stream and batch processing
  • Experience simplifying complex architectures and applications
  • Experience working in a fast, agile, environment following a scrum process
  • A track record of building and delivering commercial products
  • Solid familiarity with cloud architecture and services on GCP or AWS.
  • Prefer BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication both in-person and online through Slack and Zoom
  • The ability to dig deep and expand your technical knowledge of complex energy markets and financial concepts
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Highly accountable to your team
  • Ability to objectively research new technologies, present pros/cons and drive adoption
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers and Front-end Engineers on a close-knit squad
