As a Software Development Engineer I on the Expedia UI team, you will collaborate with some of the best technological minds. This position allows you to be involved across the entire development lifecycle from concept to shipping. You’ll also have open access to all of Expedia’s projects so you can learn how we build scalable software using the latest build systems, testing tools and UI technologies in the cloud to deliver apps quickly.

We are interested in your creativity, and problem solving skills and would love to see any of your contributions to open source or other personal side projects that showcase your skills. We’re organized for speed, so we’re looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and accountable.

What you’ll do

Day to day you will be:

• Building a state of the art, secure, and high performing application with a rich user experience
• Being responsible for your solutions all the way to production, striving for operational perfection with a first to know, quick to fix and always improving attitude
• Aiming for rapid delivery of high quality software

Who you are

You’ll fit this role if you have

• Experience with ES5, ES6 JavaScript, and CSS/LESS development
• Experience with JavaScript libraries/frameworks like React, jQuery, Backbone, or Angular
• Skilled with one or more of the JavaScript test frameworks
• Experience working with AJAX and JSON
• Experience with semantic HTML
• Experience with website accessibility
• Experience optimizing web pages for performance
• Exposure to backend technologies (Java or Scala, Spring framework) – optional but a big plus
• Experience in mentoring a team in coding standards, design patterns and general best practices
• Experience working in an agile environment, Test Driven Development (TDD) or other development approaches with a focus on high quality tests
• Good written and verbal communication skills that can clearly articulate technical details
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science preferred
