Position Overview

We are looking for a highly qualified and passionate Software Development Engineer to help build an exceptional Flight Search technology platform for the future. Your role as a member of the Air Experience Team will be to help design, develop and deliver the next-generation services and APIs needed to provide a great user experience.

The Opportunity

• Turn complex projects and concepts to reality by executing full life cycle software development
• Write and advocate for scalable, quality code and standard methodologies
• Work directly with supply partners and stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of needs and opportunities
• Produce technical specifications, and present to internal partners for review and feedback
• Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
• Partner with business, product and other technical teams for product launches
• Develop software verification plans, quality assurance procedures and document software functionality
• Contribute to industry-standard development methodologies at Expedia

Who You Are

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 2+ years software development experience in designing and delivering high-performing and scalable interactive software applications
• Experience in travel industry, specifically Air, a plus
• Ability to develop web applications using Java technology, specifically Spring MVC or similar technology
• Apache Tomcat, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Docker, Gradle, NodeJS
• AWS: EC2, S3
• Experience with test-driven development
• Experience working in Fullstack Web Applications; UI to Domain
• Modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript experience
• Ability to collaborate, communicate and document requirements and specifications
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
• Familiarity with Continuous Development and DevOps principles for software development and release management
• Ability to scope development initiatives accurately, prioritize work items appropriately and iterate efficiently
• Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies
• Be passionate about all things software development and innovation
