Our team is within the broader Lodging Platform group that drives Expedia’s hotel business. This includes our pricing and availability engine for all points of sale, booking systems, supplier connectivity, and supplier facing tools and API’s. The focus of our team is to provide a communications and notifications platform for our suppliers and travelers, while we also look toward the future in building the next generation of features using big data, machine learning, and streaming analytics. Our services are designed to handle millions of transactions a day and run in a real-time 24x7 environment so robustness, scalability, reliability and high performance. We work behind the scenes to make these transactions happen between travelers and hoteliers.

Responsibilities:

  • You will design and implement high quality, high volume transactional services including design, development, and deployment of new business functionality.
  • You will apply industry standards and utilize new technologies to improve productivity, quality, and system performance.
  • You will work closely with development, program management and product management to define and articulate project technical requirements.
  • You will ensure that features deployed have technical integrity and stability by performing code reviews.
  • You have the ability to articulate technical design decisions and software implementation in technical forums.
  • You will help set appropriate project schedules and handle ongoing changes.
  • You should have strong mentoring and leadership skills.
  • You will raise the bar for the overall organization by participating in cross-organization discussions, posting internal blog posts, and evangelizing best practices to our team and the greater organization.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience developing large scale back-end web services.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical proficiency in Java, Spring, REST/JSON API Design and Development, web services and object-oriented design.
  • Proficiency with algorithms and data structures, design patterns, multi-threading, concurrency, caching and distributed systems.
  • Experience with AWS/Cloud infrastructure.
  • Expedience with data engineering and machine learning is a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies and continuous delivery principles.
