Expedia Group's comet team is composed of distinctive brands (Travelocity, Orbitz, CheapTickets, ebookers, Wotif and LastMinute AU) honoring our heritage while encouraging innovation. We have a team of dedicated to enhancing our different branded experience across all of these sites. The Comet Technology team is investing in building new teams to help grow some of the larger brands in Travel space such as Orbitz, Travelocity, Wotif, etc. You will be able to use your development expertise to design solutions that enhance existing services or build new services that change the brands’ experience for customers. As a Developer on the team, we expect you to be able to have the ability to ramp up on technology stacks with guidance & implement solutions a timely manner to solve business problems that comet focuses on. You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior developers on your team as well as other technical teams to come up with solutions. You will be part of our large community of Software Engineers to solve some complicated Technology problems. Most of our software is JVM based, uses Scala, Java, Javascript frameworks, Spring MVC, Spring boot deployed using docker based images, we use a variety of new technologies including: Kafka, Redis, MongoDB among other technologies. What you'll do with us:

• Deliver high-quality code that is designed to be scalable, responsive & resilient.
• Learn and pick up on new technologies & existing technology stacks
• Take ownership on all Technical issues that surround Comet Technology
• Identify & mitigate risks/issues in your scope of the problem space
• Keep open channels of communication among team members; we work collaboratively

Who you are:

• 3+ years of Experience in Software Development
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Deep understanding of UI (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) & JVM (Java, Scala) technologies
• Understanding and/or experience in cloud-based deployment & infrastructure – AWS preferred
• Desired – Understanding of Messaging, caching, NoSQL infrastructure such as Kafka, rabbitMQ, Redis, MongoDB etc.
• Solid written & oral communication skills
• Demonstrates a good sense of ownership on work you're doing
