Perform software engineering to support Hiya’s Core Technologies Team, focusing on distributed systems, cloud computing, and working with open source resources for performance, scalability, and reliability. Build and provision a custom, multi-data center array of Kubernetes clusters with rich integration and additional advanced features. Gather and process daily logs via Apache Kafka and customer log processors. Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure. Design, develop, and curate re-usable libraries and frameworks to create and manage high-performance, reliable, and agile microservices. Ensure systems infrastructure availability. Monitor and test application performance, identify solutions, and implement fixes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and two years of software engineering or systems engineering experience.

This must include two years of experience in each of the following:

1. Utilizing algorithms and data structures.

2. Object-oriented and/or functional programming language like Java, Scala.

3. Operating systems and computer networks, with an emphasis on Unix and virtualized environments.

4. Columnar and document database systems.

5. RESTful APIs and services.

6. Cloud infrastructures such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.

7. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment systems such as Jenkins and/or CircleCI.

Will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and six months of experience (academic experience gained via coursework and/or internships during master’s degree studies is acceptable) in the experience delineated above in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and two years of this experience.

Experience can be gained concurrently. Full time position located at Hiya, Inc. in Seattle, Washington.
