    This is exactly what we, the Supply and Partner Data Engineering organization, in Expedia, do! Our charter is to “Unify and democratize EG supply & partner data into a rich set of data and ML engineering products to improve partner performance & marketplace competitiveness and unlock data analytics & AI across EG for these domains”. We work on creating data products and generating ML predictions as part of the Expedia Group Data Platform to support a variety of users and applications including analysts, data scientists, internal engineering teams, product and business partners, senior executives, and external EG partners across all travel lines of business. Our work spans across a broad set of domains including supply across all travel products, search & sort, competitive intelligence, etc across a diverse technology stack ranging from Hadoop, Teradata to Spark, KStream, EMR, Qubole/Databricks, and AWS.


    We are looking for a passionate, creative and innately curious engineering manager to join our Agent Data and Graphs team to build out a next-generation stream-first data platform to power the EG Agent Attribute Store for all external partner-facing agents.


    What you'll do:

    • Design and implement large scale real-time & batch data pipelines on the AWS platform; set platform, product, and technology strategies

    • Resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur and unblock team members toward success. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure

    • Build, coach, and mentor a team of robust software engineers utilizing your experience hiring and growing best-in-class development teams.

    • Build and maintain a long-term product and technical vision and roadmap

    • Manage a team of SDEs to deliver high-quality software using agile principles and methodologies, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence

    • Orchestrate operational support and act as a backup for your team during high impact live site issues

    • Communicate and work effectively with geographically distributed multi-functional teams


    Who you are:

    • Experience in designing and implementing BigData applications (data ingestion, real-time data processing, and batch ETL) in Spark Streaming, Kafka, Hadoop

    • Solid server-side programming skills (Scala, Nodejs, or Java), and hands-on experience in OOAD, microservice architecture, design patterns, and SQL

    • Experience on Hadoop-ecosystem technologies in particular MapReduce, Spark, Hive, YARN. Experience working on distributed database systems like Hadoop (Hive/HDFS), Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Qubole/Amazon EMR, Teradata, Redshift

    • Strong experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, EMR, Kubernetes, Docker)

    • Strong communication skills across, up, and down a global organization enabling you to translate collaborate effectively with peers of all levels and disciplines

    • Experience leading and managing an agile engineering team while partnering with peers in a geographically diverse organization

    • Ability to lead multiple simultaneous projects, prioritize effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment
