Your New Role...
CNN is the world's most essential and engaging source of video and digital
news, and we're embarking on a crucial mission to grow the next generation
news and information consumer product. You'll be joining an empowered
cross-functional team building the trusted new digital products, platforms,
and formats that put CNN's talent, expertise, and content programming
- and the directions it goes next - directly in the hands of consumers.
As a Senior Software Engineer within the Video Content Management team,
you will help develop, integrate and maintain the core video infrastructure
that powers all video experiences for CNND and our WBD partners. The
team sits at the nexus the consumer video experience and wide array of
video supply chains required to empower our digital storytelling. You will
join a team of experienced engineers building and enhancing the
core video content management tools and infrastructure for the
digital organization.
Your Role Accountabilities...

• Collaborate with Video Experiences and Playback teams to meet all consumer video usage needs, capabilities and integrations
• Work with core WBD platform operations team to integrate with and leverage the complete video supply chain and distribution capabilities of the organization
• Extend capabilities and integrations for all video experiences including live streaming, all types of VOD, and clips across all surfaces and devices.
• Manage and support video asset management, editing capabilities, and integrations with value-add systems such as captions and related ad tech.
• Ensuring the highest technical quality, lighting-fast performance, and an engaging experience across all CNN Digital properties.
• Contribute to documentation and code quality efforts across the platform through thoughtful code reviews and ensuring code standards.
• Be responsible for implementing, developing and maintaining complete high-priority features with thorough testing.
• Communicate effectively and facilitate meetings with engineering and product to ensure engineering requirements and expectations.
• Collaborate with team members in the planning and execution of new features and products.

Qualifications & Experience...

• Proficiency with Typescript/Node.js
• Full-stack programming experience
• Video asset workflows and transcoding pipeline integration
• Experience with a broad range of video formats and their purposes/use cases
• Familiarity with DRM and Video Ad Serving integrations (SSAI, Client)
• Experience with AWS application and messaging services especially Lambda, S3, SNS/SQS
• Practiced with Infrastructure as Code (IAC), Terraform
• Containerization / Docker and related tools and supporting infrastructure.
• CI/CD knowledge and experience (e.g. CodePipeline, Jenkins)
• API Design and Development
• 5+ years of experience working with other developers on a production system.
• You've worked with Github and can rebase and merge with ease.
• Knowledge and practice with other languages (like Python, Java, C/C++, Go)
• Active contributor to open-source projects.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field

The Legal Bits...
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $117,600.00 - $218,400.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
