Role Description
We’re looking for a Chief of Staff for our CFO. You'll get to work on a wide range of strategic and meaningful projects that have the potential for impact across our entire organization. Driving these projects will contribute to learning a wide-range of areas within Finance and push you on people skills, organizational skills, and strategic thinking. You’ll gain significant exposure to the CFO, his reports, other senior leaders across Dropbox, and the BOD / AC allowing you to observe the business from a unique vantage point.
You are a self-starter and independent thinker with exceptional analytical skills and a hunger to learn. You are capable of handling highly sensitive and confidential information and consistently show your executive presence. You do not shy away from building creative solutions to problems that have not been tackled yet. You recognize where processes can be improved, and take the initiative to improve them, end-to-end.
You’re comfortable interacting across the organization at all levels, including senior leaders (Staff/VP level) and executives in GBO, G&A and EPD. You’re a team player, and enjoy collaborating with colleagues across the company. You believe that the biggest problems at the global level can only be solved by cross-functional teams.
While you thrive in ambiguity, you’re highly organized, detail-oriented and are passionate about designing and implementing processes to keep everyone on track and grow a world class finance organization.
Responsibilities
While exact workload will vary, responsibilities will generally include:
Operations / Strategy
- Run point and/or project manage finance-wide strategic initiatives as well as cross-company initiatives. Often requires developing a new approach or process to tackle problems
- Run point on Board-level materials from the CFO-Org
- Help manage to our goals and track achievement of goals. Work along-side CFO to identify projects and areas for growth and improving of the CFO-Org
Culture / People
- Work with the VPs and HRBPs to identify, surface, and execute on key areas of culture investment and organizational change for the organization
- Develop a strong operating cadence for CFO-Staff and partnering alongside HR to ensure a healthy organization
- Work with key partners in Recruiting to ensure that Recruiting is aligned on hiring priorities and budget and ensure we have the right diversity efforts in place to build a healthy organization
- Help to create programs across the CFO org to drive continuous learning and improvement (such as quarterly Town Halls, L&D sessions, rotational programs etc)
Communications
- Partner with CFO and communications team to ensure we are striking the right balance of communication within the organization
- Help the CFO prepare for speaking engagements with the company, the organization, external engagements, the Board, etc. as necessary [in partnership with Comms]

- 6+ years experience; background in finance strongly preferred
- Creative problem solving (i.e. excels at identifying trends and patterns, developing root cause diagnoses, and using a diverse toolkit to address the root causes)
- Business acumen - ability to drive or contribute to strategy, mission, vision
- Deep understanding of our financials and business model
- Ability to bottom-line and dive deep when asked
- Communicate effectively and concisely (both written and verbal)
- Growth mindset and ability to learn, reflect, apply
- Strong project management skills
- Responsibility mindset — takes end to end ownership of a task/project/job; willing to “knock down walls” to get something done; accepts accountability and seeks to look for what they contributed to a situation as opposed to externalizing blame
- Courage — willing to push back execs and influence without authority; able to work with minimal guidance in ambiguous situations
