The Impact You Will Have:


The Controller role is a critical member of the high-performing leadership team at Wyze. An ideal candidate is a proven professional with strong technical skills, demonstrated abilities in delivering accounting, controls and reporting excellence, continuous improvement and a strategic approach to problem solving. The candidate must be eager to build a world-class Accounting function to support our growing business. The Controller will build the accounting and financial reporting team, processes and controls and will collaborate cross functionally with broader organization. 

A Look Inside the Role:

  • Leadership: Own the company-wide Controllership function and all aspects of Accounting operations. Ensures a strong corporate control environment and sets an appropriate tone at the top. Responsible for annual external audit preparation and oversight. Maintains strong working relationships with internal team members and external entities to include independent auditors, vendors, and similar parties. Key areas of responsibility:
  • Accounting: Prepares timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and applicable SEC reporting regulations. Owns the GL and recording of all business transactions (Revenue, Expenses, Cash, AR, Inventory, AP, Accrued Liabilities (including payroll). Oversees monthly financial close process including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Internal Controls: Implements consistent accounting and financial policies, practices and procedures across the organization and ensures compliance; oversee the writing of technical accounting interpretations and positions. Establishes and operates a strong control environment; will require close business partnership (control owners). Oversee company-wide Sarbanes-Oxley compliant internal control program including; the development and implementation of controls, quarterly self-assessments and periodic testing, and remediation to ensure there are no deficiencies, timely remediation of deficiencies.
  • Technical Accounting & External Reporting: Leads center of excellence to write accounting policies and interpret business transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment; prepare all disclosures/notes; prepare all SEC-required documents (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4, etc.)
  • ERP/Finance Systems: works closely with Wyze IT lead to integrate ERP with other systems; own the implementation and maintenance of Finance-related systems/SaaS tools (e.g., revenue recognition, planning, etc.). Drives automation, efficiency, and scalability initiatives to meet growth requirements.

You Already Have These Qualifications and Love What You Do:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA or similar advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller or Director of Accounting preferred.
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred and demonstrated US GAAP expertise.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing SEC filing processes.
  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required.
  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines and navigate through ambiguity.
  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid. conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated abilities to partner cross functionally to lead and influence business decisions.

And Even Better if the Following Applies to You:

  • MBA, CMA, or similar qualification is a plus.
  • Industry experience in e-commerce, consumer technology, distribution, retail, etc.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm preferred.
