We are looking for a Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting with strong accounting skills to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work both independently and with the broader team. The Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting will need to be motivated, flexible and able to shift gears when priorities and workloads change. This position is located in our Rochester, NY but we are open to remote candidates for this opportunity!

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the execution of the monthly financial closing process and the application of US GAAP for critical areas
• Executes strategies and standards related to accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and financial systems and controls
• Supports the management of the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes for the business
• Prepare journal entries on a monthly basis
• Prepare monthly reconciliations on a timely basis, investigate variances and record any necessary resulting adjustments
• Support coordination of external audit activities
• Prepare quarterly debt compliance financial statements
• Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements
• Analyze financial results and prepare explanations of actual results compared to forecasts
• Working with and assisting management, trouble-shoot unit accounting questions and suggest proper accounting treatments when new accounting issues arise
• Perform research and prepare documentation to support the annual external financial audit process for business.
• Collaborate with corporate departments and teams to ensure any required changes to policies, procedures, and processes are implemented.
• Provide assistance and support to all functions of the finance department
• Assist in statutory compliance matters
• Assist in ad hoc accounting projects as needed
• Support the enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent work experience (CPA or seeking CPA certification preferred)
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Technology expertise (i.e. advanced MS Excel, ERP experience, database, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to promote cross-functional collaboration
• Understanding of general ledger activities
• Proficient knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
• Ability to understand complex contracts for proper invoicing and revenue recognition, including the ability to research and resolve issues and questions
• Innovative – ability to identify process improvements and efficiencies and prepare recommendations to enhance
• Attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining the ability to prioritize and facilitate cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop solutions to business problems
• Takes initiative to identify issues then research and recommend solutions
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel and Word
• Experience with NetSuite and SalesForce.com a plus
