Is there such a thing as agile human resources?

Are you looking for a new challenge in HR? An opportunity to apply hard-won experience supporting people and teams and see its impact on a global scale? Are you looking for the best of both worlds: local connections and depth but making impact at a global scale? This role might be of interest.

We’re looking for an HR professional to be the strategic partner for our Product, Marketing, and Engineering departments in our Seattle office. Our Product, Engineering, and Marketing groups are deeply integral to our success as a company: they’re building the technologies our customers and merchants use every single day; rolling out new, exciting products to take our business to the next level; and presenting the Groupon message in a smart, delightful way, respectively.

Human Resource Business Partners at Groupon aren’t just doing the transactional elements of HR, they’re highly integrated in their designated business group and partner closely with leaders to help craft programs and policies. As a young yet evolving company, we’ve grown a robust HR department with dedicated resources for each business unit. However, because we’re only 8 years old, there are still plenty of ways employees can impact, change, or improve how their department works. We want you to join our nimble, impactful, and creative HRBPs as they build successful relationships between multiple partners and deliver value across the entire company. If you're a great fit, you will be responsible for identifying business needs and working with the regional Centers of Excellence to deliver high quality solutions to internal customers.

Core Responsibilities:

Human Resources:  This role serves as the go-to HR support at our Palo Alto, Seattle and San Francisco offices. While you will have a large team around you, you will be the point person for hundreds of developers, marketers, administrators and others, doing things like investigating issues, providing HR policy guidance and interpretation, supporting hiring and onboarding programs, helping managers become better coaches, provide career development, build morale and do the myriad of things that can support morale and productivity across the board.

Other tasks would include:

  • Conduct weekly meetings with respective business units
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Assist international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters
  • Serve as a strategic partner to multiple business and functional leaders, establishing HR business objectives that align with the overall company plans and objectives
  • Collaborate with other teams within the HR department (recruiting, compensation, HRIS, development, etc) to support broader initiatives including performance and compensation planning, business unit restructures, workforce planning and leadership planning

Training and Facilitation:  This role will be expected to play a visible role developing and delivering training to support the evolving needs of the company. This includes identifying mentoring needs of individual and teams, facilitating existing training programs and evaluating their success.

Qualifications:

  • The right candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, with 3-5 years of experience leading human resources disciplines including compensation practices, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, diversity, and performance management in a larger organization. It would be advantageous if that experience occurred in a larger, tech company with a global matrixed organization.

Additional notable qualifications:

  • Experience presenting to a large number of employees, and delivering feedback to senior leadership
  • Experience implementing HR strategy that supports company objectives
  • Experience supporting a product and engineering employee population
  • Experience utilizing Work Day as the system of record for HRIS
  • Knowledge of international employment law
  • Experience delivering and facilitating training programs
  • Have a deep understanding of California and Washington regulations that are applicable to employees in the Seattle and CA offices

Culturally, we believe that great people make great companies and that starting with the customer and working backward moves us forward. Community matters to us on an internal, local and global scale—it’s fundamental to our company’s growth and to the well-being of the world at large. We also value self-awareness, candor, lunch and WiFi. If we match with you, please apply to join us.
