Evil Geniuses (EG) is looking for a strategic and creative Director of Global Communications who is passionate about building a global entertainment brand with millions of fans around the world. The Director of Global Communications is a new position within EG's global marketing team.
You will help Lead EG's global communications team, and participate in the development and lead the execution of the global communications strategy (earned and internal). Your North star is helping lead the transformation of the EG brand through innovative storytelling that captures earned media coverage, driving business growth globally and accelerating our mission to bring gaming entertainment experiences to the world.
What You'll Do:

  • Build and lead EG's global communications function, which includes public relations, executive communications / thought leadership, and internal communications
  • Partner with and manage EG's outside PR agencies(if applicable), domestic and international (APAC), to develop a cohesive and winning global communications roadmap
  • Craft EG's global communications narrative, with a focus on developing a strategy and stories that build recognition for EG as a global gaming powerhouse; promote EG as a values-led organization; and build relationships with players, fans, game publishers, industry, and relevant press outlets
  • Work with important internal stakeholders across other divisions of EG, including the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to develop strategies that support EG's global communications narrative
  • Collaborate with communications teams within PEAK6 and Fosun Sports Group to ensure consistency of message and visibility across the broader organization
  • Establish thought leadership strategy for ELT and SLT, and lead scripting and prep for speaking engagements (internal and external) and media opportunities
  • Ensure communications strategy is aligned with and supports broader marketing and business initiatives
  • Serve as a main contact for internal stakeholders on communications planning and messaging (e.g. crisis management, company-wide All Hands Meetings (agenda setting, speakers, promotion), etc.) and provide strategic guidance
  • Review, write, edit, produce and manage the distribution of internal communications (e.g., organizational updates from executives, company announcements, etc.)
  • Set clear goals and measurements of success for the communications team and outside PR agency
  • Provide team leadership and mentorship that enables and inspires junior members to grow


What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 8 years of communications and publicity experience at a global consumer brand (entertainment, media, music, lifestyle, esports, gaming, etc.), including developing and overseeing execution of communications strategy
  • A minimum of 4 years people management experience
  • Exceptional people and project management skills
  • Experience establishing communications organization structure, defining roles, and managing headcount
  • Experience managing outside agencies and vendors
  • Proven media pitching experience and results
  • Experience advising senior/C-suite executives on both external and internal-facing messages
  • Experience building global campaigns and creating press opportunities for a variety of known brands / products
  • Established relationships with key sports, gaming, lifestyle, fashion, tech / innovation, business, and consumer press
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment
  • Impeccable written, verbal and presentation skills (outreach plans, writing, proofreading, pitch development, media materials, strategy documents, etc.), and the ability to produce decks and internal and external presentations that are both beautifully designed and thoughtfully executed
  • Strong and consistent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Team player with the ability to project confidence, a positive attitude, good judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach under pressure
  • Insatiable curiosity
  • Low ego, understands personal success is directly linked to EG's success
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment
  • Effective time management skills to maintain multiple projects with complex details and timelines
