About the opportunity
The Senior Director, Product Marketing will build and lead a world-class Product Marketing team that accelerates Ontra’s growth through deep customer insight, distinctive product positioning and high impact go-to-market strategy.
In this role, you will work to define organizational responsibilities and OKRs as they relate to the company’s mission as well as lead a team to develop strong messaging, enable the sales organization with new marketing assets, and continuously innovate our product release processes.
You will partner closely with Sales, Strategy, and Account Management, driving impact across the entire product lifecycle by leveraging customer insights to influence product strategy, wrangle go-to-market plans, and grow product adoption post-release. A big focus of the role is on building segmentation and market analysis, a value framework, and persona definitions, while delivering deeper insight into our customers and product positioning.
This role will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.
What you’ll do
- Build and manage a team: Define organizational responsibilities and OKRs, partnering with internal stakeholders to align priorities within those. Work to hire Product Marketing Managers to help execute towards OKRs
- Customer insight & analysis: Deliver insight on persona definitions, market analysis, and segmentation analysis that deepens our understanding of firmographic details, industry trends, and customer behavior
- Messaging & positioning: Define Ontra’s value drivers and differentiators, utilizing this information to build update external messaging and support sales enablement assets
- Cross-functional collaboration: Establish a close and synchronized partnership with multiple Ontra teams, including Sales, Strategy, Account Management, and Product
- Product launch processes: Provide market inputs and continuously collaborate with the Product team to innovate product release campaigns. Implement processes to track adoption of new functionality and address utilization rates
What you’ll bring
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in managing teams and driving cross-functional initiatives that deliver company-wide impact
- Industry knowledge: deep understanding of private markets, asset management, and/or private equity required
- Cross-functional leadership: Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams to take business ideas from ideation to implementation; Ability to develop and lead top-tier product marketing managers
- Strategic & analytical skills: Ability to use data and analytics to develop a deep understanding of our customers and market, quantifying these insights, and developing strategic initiatives with other functional organizations to best market our product
- Executive Presence: Ability and comfort working with the following groups of individuals at an executive level: customers, VP and C-Level executives.
- Teamwork: Ability to communicate with and partner closely across multiple Ontra teams including Sales, Product, Account Management, and Strategy to achieve company-wide goals
- Proactive and agile: Ability to operate with low levels of oversight; A fast-mover who quickly figures out what’s working and what’s not and collaborates with the right stakeholders in order to innovate upon processes and products

In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
