The Role

As Chief of Staff you will take on an unusually wide range of responsibilities to support the organization’s leaders. You’ll help manage the organization through three primary functions: managing the strategic planning process, driving operating rhythms, and managing special projects/initiatives. This means you will be responsible for supporting and improving the CEO, COO, and Executive team’s effectiveness through planning, prioritization, and coordination of action items. You will also serve as a critical partner for senior leaders - defining and managing the cadence of business as well as coordinating and connecting teams and work streams to ensure the business is moving quickly and in the right direction. You will serve as a program manager for strategic projects, working with a vast array of stakeholders on both the strategic vision and project execution.

This role requires a highly resourceful, sharp, organized, professional, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence, analytical reasoning, and optimize decision making.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

  • Establish and lead operating processes and tools for effectively managing the organization, including actively tracking key trends in lagging/leading metrics
  • Analyze program risks and track status of initiatives, major and minor
  • Orchestrate and manage an effective rhythm of the business and core meetings (weekly, monthly, and quarterly agendas) to understand strategy and status. Optimize continuously in pursuit of efficiency, agility, and impact
  • Guardian of productive conversations
  • Provide insightful data-driven strategic recommendations to leadership. Communicate findings from initiatives to management and the broader organization
  • Partner closely with other functions relevant to the team, including Product and Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations. Use cross-functional knowledge and seek to understand issues, trends, and perspectives that may influence the business
  • Drive the Leadership team towards clear, efficient, and accountable decision making. Distill and cascade core tenets of our strategy for board, leadership, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as a point of contact between top management and other stakeholders
  • Assist to develop and drive acquisition process collaborating across teams to drive quick decisions

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in operations consulting / strategy / stakeholder and project management or related experience; some high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred
  • Organized, detail-oriented, strategic, and process driven
  • Top caliber interpersonal skills: ability to communicate, present, influence, and explain across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and up to the C-level
  • Ability to define metrics for success and track KPIs towards those metrics
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial: You’re a self-starter who loves to own things from start to completion. You make things happen and don’t need to ask for permission first
  • Complete integrity, presence, and confidence. Ability to influence at all levels in the organization. Flexibility in a dynamic, ever changing environment. Competence in making timely, effective, principles-based decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA and/or graduate degree
  • Effective program management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex strategic and operational initiatives
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners
  • History of working across multiple business lines and functions - including operations, product, engineering, hardware, supply chain, marketing, finance, policy, legal, HR, recruiting, communications, and S&P
  • Added bonus - previous experience as a Chief of Staff or COO within a technology/high-growth company
