The Marketplace Growth Team is responsible for accelerating Convoy’s Digital Freight Network growth and profitability by delivering core capabilities (tools, operating process and frameworks, business analysis, core strategy) and services (pricing, business incubations, etc) that empower the broader organization to achieve the stated outcomes of the business. 


You will be a core leader within Convoy tasked with building and growing our flywheel in target markets across the nation. You will lead and build a small team of program managers that set the strategy and drive the cross-company initiatives that will deliver outsized margin, volume, and revenue growth in our target markets. Additionally, you will identify the next opportunities for growth in our two-sided marketplace and drive incubations that will facilitate Convoy’s scale in a 2-4 year time horizon. 


You will be directly accountable for the strategy for building Convoy’s target markets, including lever identification to empower and align the broader organization, as well as helping to incubate the next set of businesses that will drive future growth and margin expansion. 


Network Strategy: Grow and mature target markets, accelerating network effects with scalable cross-organizational strategies, tools, and playbooks. Establish the strategy and vision for the growth and advancement of our network in a three year time horizon. Core measures include progression of target markets, expansion of target markets, differentiated business performance (relative to industry) in our top markets. 


Strategic Programs & Incubations: Provide business strategy, operations, and pricing expertise to our top incubation projects including acting as the single-threaded-leader (STL) for new business expansions that represent potential drivers of growth in the out years (e.g. reefer, long-haul, geo expansion, flexible drop, power-only, etc).

You deeply understand the levers of the business and learn how to effectively manipulate those to achieve the outcomes we desire. 

  • You are an analytical power-house with highly structured thinking: You are comfortable diving deep into data and use metrics and insights to inform decision making. You can thoughtfully frame data and problems to guide strategy and business performance monitoring. Your depth into the data and details of the business allows you to simplify what we need to do and why. 

  • You build trust and partner cross-org incredibly well: Sitting at the center of our functional organization you can deftly navigate the organization. High EQ means you have strong empathy and understanding for the organizations around you. You build trust with partner teams in “how” you work as well as “what” you do. Your level of ownership and accountability is on display when results are off track. When results are hitting, you love applauding those teams around you.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A track record of leadership in or around strategic roles including: corporate strategy, corporate development, mergers & acquisitions, or strategy consulting. This should include cross-functional program and/or project strategy and management, from program design to execution.
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to empathize with stakeholder needs and drive alignment across multiple teams and individuals of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Ability to break down complex organizational challenges into concrete solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and recommendations even in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects at once while keeping stakeholders up to date and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven experience successfully building and leading teams in high growth companies. Comfortable operating in a lean, start-up environment.
