DESCRIPTION

The Alexa Risk Management Services (ARMs) organization is engaged in the data processing to support the voice recognition for Alexa, the cloud-based service that powers devices like Amazon Echo, Echo Show, Echo Plus, Echo Spot, Echo Dot, and more. The Alexa service is always getting smarter, both for features, and for natural language understanding and accuracy. Because Alexa’s brains are in the AWS cloud, she continually learns and adds more functionality, every hour, every day.

A day in the life
The structured intake of privacy requirements, including policies and risks across the Alexa organization; driving the connection to existing solutions or driving prioritization of new product development to mitigate; and measurably increasing the awareness across the organization. The team will lead through programmatic control implementation, upwardly influencing and defining ‘standards’ and best practices, through our governance team, across the organization for human annotation and supporting the consultation with teams on the implementation of these standards, ensuring Day 1 privacy bar is met, and in turn reducing risk and gaps.

About the hiring group
Our vision is to be the single source of truth for privacy, security, and compliance risk posture across Alexa. Risk management will be at the forefront of our organizational strategy, aiding our business to proactively make informed decisions which lower our risk exposure and protect the trust of our customers (Alexa end users). We will implement monitoring controls and automated auditing technologies that will accelerate policy health posture and customer facing promises in real-time, complete with closed-loop feedback mechanisms

Job responsibilities
As a Senior Program Manager in the SAIF Privacy Team, you will help shape and deliver the Privacy experience for Alexa, partnering with leaders from various disciplines. You will experience a wide range of problem-solving situations, strategic to real-time, requiring use of data collection and analysis. You will manage multiple program deliverables, leading high-impact, cross-org Privacy initiatives with a goal to enable business growth and drive innovation while honoring data policies and controls that help protect customer privacy.

This opportunity requires excellent problem solving, communication skills and a record of accomplishment of delivering results. You will have the ability to quickly grasp complex and fast moving programs with multi dependencies. You are an excellent translator between various part of the business and the technical teams you work with. You have a demonstrated ability to deliver multiple, high priority projects at the same time; managing numerous stakeholders, including influencing without authority; developing robust project documentation; defining and executing communication and change management plans; evaluating control effectiveness; understanding both project and enterprise risks and how to address them.

This role can be based on Seattle (WA) or Medford (MA).

Primary Responsibilities:
· Develop a deep understanding strategic goals, and be able to work out what we need to do to help them meet those goals.
· Manage expectations and dealing with multiple conflicting. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
· Help us improve and often reinvent our processes as we scale. You’ll take the lead on a number of strategic business improvement initiatives that will define the way we operate and how we serve our customers in the future. You’ll also work closely with the tech team, helping to shape our automation and tooling roadmap, and making sure that it supports the processes we’re defining.
· Handle a high volume of data. Be under no illusions – this is a complex space. You’re happy to dive deep and get to the real detail so we can learn and benefit from our mistakes. Dealing with risks and issues is meat and drink to you. You’ll need to be a confident communicator, both spoken and written; we thrive on the written word!
· Create and present clear, concise and actionable documents. Your communications skills also help create wide bridges between internal customers and Alexa Data Services, so that we avoid silos and work collectively to deliver the best results.
· Coordinate with Risk, Audit and Compliance teams, Technical Program Managers, Operations and local site workflow teams to maintain and update plans.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or commensurate industry experience.
· Cross-team collaboration, project management, and presentation skills are essential.
· Proven experience of leading teams (direct or matrixed) in managing large, complex, multifunctional technology-oriented projects and programs.
· Deep experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization – subject matter experts, functional leads, departmental heads, directors/VPs, etc.
· Great communication skills, including the ability to write detailed proposals, reports and other documents, backed by statistical measurements.
· Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
· Flexibility; delivering results in a fast-paced and complex work environment.
· Skilled in planning, risk and issue management, and change control.
· Experience in working in complex and frequently ambiguous spaces; making sense of customer need and being able to frame that as clear requirements.
· Able to work under tight timelines with minimal supervision. Hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” mindset, with a strong personality and ability to be a driver and change agent in an organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Masters or other advanced degree.
· PMP / Prince2 / equivalent certification.
· Experience in working with Operations
· Experience or qualification in an associated field: Speech Recognition, Computational Linguistics, NLU, Machine Learning, AI, etc.
