As an IT Systems Engineer you would not be locked into a rigid box of duties; instead you would have a large effect on the company while molding IT systems to your ideals.

As part of the EHIT team, you will be designing, maintaining, and occasionally breaking our customer-facing and internal systems. Our needs are fast-moving, and we like to take risks. That said, we have to make sure that we can affect a speedy rollback in the event a change does not go smoothly. We don’t have the time to spend weeks prepping and planning for guaranteed zero downtime. We are a close-knit team, and duties frequently overlap and flow, including into other Engineering and Development teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure 24x7 availability and responsiveness of services and infrastructure
• Be part of the oncall rotation for production services
• Configure monitoring of production and development/test systems, with both ExtraHop products and legacy monitoring tools
• Add to existing internal knowledge base, including design documents, playbooks, network diagrams, and user-facing documentation
• Write elegant code and scripts to solve problems

Required Qualifications

• Scripting skills on Unix/Linux platforms; python and bash prefered
• Strong Competency with LAMP systems
• Experience with one or more virtualization infrastructures, e.g. VMware, KVM, and VirtualBox
• Knowledge of networking and application protocols, e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, LDAP, TLS/SSL.
• Ability to task-switch quickly in an oft interrupt-driven environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Capable of independent self-direction
• Security-oriented mindset in all development and administration choices

Desired Skills and Experience

• Windows support and administration
• Cloud virtualization platform experience, such as AWS, Azure, or GCE/GKE
• Firewall and security management
• SQL and NoSQL use and system administration experience
• Linux configuration management systems implementation and configuration such as ansible, puppet, or chef
• A strong opinion about vi vs emacs.
