We're looking for the right person to join our close-knit team and help take our foundational product and business to the next level. Mason's core product is mobile infrastructure as a service ("mobile IaaS") — think elastic, customizable hardware + software + services. Mason is used across industries and use cases today, from digitizing clinical trials to improving warehouse efficiency to streamlining retail payments and more.
Position Overview
Mason is looking for a technically strong Head of Product to own and evolve the team that delivers the critical infrastructure powering the Mason platform. This is a hands-on management role where you bring your technical, leadership, and people management skills to bear in delivering quality work from a growing, close-knit team.
The mission for this role is to take our existing services and develop the strategy to evolve it into a mature and scalable platform. Our goal is to make Mason OS and cloud platform the extensible solution for inventors, entrepreneurs, SMBs, and enterprises to build smart product lines.
This leader will have a history that demonstrates their ability to conceive, define, build, and deliver innovative product roadmaps for infrastructure and platform services, or for developer tools. Technical experience working on device-related services and hardware is not required but highly desired.
To be effective, the Head of Product must be capable of leading and inspiring product management, program management, and design teams to scope, prototype, build, test, and launch products for businesses. Ideally, the Head of Product will have familiarity with building products for a variety of buyer and user personas including operations, developers, and IT teams.

What you’ll work on:
- Lead the product vision and direction to expand and build on our platform services. Work closely with leadership and hardware and software engineering to provide our customers with the best possible experience across our services including CI/CD, APIs, device remote control, logging, and management tools, connectivity and data usage insights, OS customization, and configuration, and much more.
- Make critical decisions on our technology and an impact on the business. Represent the product and design teams with your engineering, sales, marketing, and operations partners, facilitate technical discussions, and be a critical part of Mason’s direction.
- Evaluate and manage tradeoffs. Evaluate new features and their impact on our customers and key metrics. Weigh tradeoffs and clearly articulate the rationale behind them.
- Be the stage crew for our customers. Embody our stage crew value and ensure customers and partners are heard and supported. Work closely with customers and tech partners and bring their feedback to product and design teams.
- Lead with design and usability in mind. Oversee design and usability of our product in partnership with our Head of Product Design. Incorporate design vision and user mechanics into product development.
- Coach and mentor an inclusive team. Build a culture that elevates our product and program managers, and actively help them develop and achieve career goals. Give your team the tools, leadership, and motivation to innovate and make decisions. Support and allocate resources for your team.
- Establish a team operating model. Align the team’s priorities and deliverables to Mason’s overarching strategy and goals. Work with your team to develop an organizational roadmap with goals and success metrics. Create the best organizational structure that works for your team and supports the business.
- Be an active leader at Mason. Work with the team to regularly share priorities, updates, and deliverables across the company and for the executive team. Clear communication is key.
What you bring to the table:
- 15+ years of experience in product management with 7+ years of managing and building product and design teams
- Must have a solid, technical background shipping cloud services, and with hands-on experience with distributed systems and scaling services for use by enterprise customers. This can include previous experience in engineering
- Highly analytical with experience deriving insights from datasets and tracking product metrics
- Previous experience at a successful startup or growth stage company
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Track record of strong partnerships with engineering, sales, customer success, operations, and marketing teams. Demonstrated success in resolving conflicts
- Experience driving product architecture discussions and planning for scale across different product stages
- Customer-focused approach to product development, balancing business needs, customer needs with engineering and design initiatives
