JOB SUMMARY


As part of the Development team at Code.org the Development Coordinator will contribute to Code.org’s mission by executing key fundraising initiatives under the direction of the VP of Development.


The Development Coordinator manages a revenue portfolio driven by priority relationships, pipeline development, tech stack management, and events. As part of a small and nimble fundraising team, the DC will also find opportunities for project leadership and collaboration with teams throughout the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Donor Engagement

• Responsible for implementing all activities related to the Community Fundraising Program, working with the Director of Individual

• Giving to secure revenue from individual donors across all giving levels

• Steward relationships with existing individual and corporate donors

• Support execution of ongoing strategy for qualifying prospects and “moves” using tools such as small cultivation events, research, and organizational communications tools

• Major Gifts: Assist VP of Development in stewardship and cultivation of major individual donors, including research and preparation for individual donor solicitation in the form of Strategy Briefs and Meeting briefs, drafting letters and materials for use with donors, scheduling one-on-one meetings, and facilitating accurate and effective communications with donors

• Maintain a robust, year-round donor pipeline

• Tracking and analysis: Work in partnership with Development team to oversee data-driven cultivation and moves management process using Salesforce

• Create donor reports for use in prospecting, portfolio management, revenue projection in collaboration with Code.org data team

• Manage ongoing donor/partner database, donor inquiries and communications.

• Prospecting: Research current and prospective donors utilizing Salesforce, Wealth-X and iWave tools


Event Management

• Serve as Project Manager for Development activities related to planning and execution of annual Hour of Code signature event

• Coordinate, lead, and track key partnerships, sponsorship, and event details for partners.

• Assist with organizing and managing constituent special events, such as home events and other donor engagement opportunities, webinars, and programmatic tours

 

Gift Management

• Work with Accounting to ensure donations are accurately recorded

• Coordinate with team to process gifts and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence

• Produce and send pledge reminders and invoices as needed

 

General

• Serve as liaison to Code.org marketing team and to the International team

• Participate in staff meetings, team/committee meetings, and contribute to the overall growth and learning of the organization

• Serve as point of contact for Office of Development phone line, answering general questions and routing calls as needed

• Manage updates and campaigns on donation platform Classy

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


• A sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of fundraising principles and practices, and a demonstrated high level of professionalism, collegiality, self-motivation, and success in fundraising.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, great attention to detail, the ability to process and maintain confidential information,

• Ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external constituencies to promote a positive collaborative spirit across the organization's network.

• Experience with database management (Salesforce a plus)

• Minimum two years of fundraising experience, including raising funds from individuals (or commensurate experience within a large development organization)

• Direct and successful experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from individuals or corporations

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience

Step 2: Interviews with several members of the Fundraising team

Step 3: Final Interview + Meet & Greet with 2-3 members of the Code.org team

Step 4: Reference checks 


All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Google Meet
