The Principal Program Manager Privacy will own and provide thought leadership for establishing a global Privacy program for Outreach to ensure that company policies and procedures are designed and performed in accordance with applicable privacy, data protection and compliance laws. The role will oversee privacy governance and initiatives and mature privacy operations at a global scale to build and maintain an effective privacy program in partnership with other Outreach teams including Sales, Legal, Product, Engineering and Information Security. You will work closely with the Outreach governance, risk, and compliance team to develop policy and controls that integrate into a larger governance program.

The role requires that you have a working knowledge of current privacy regulations and a track record for successfully implementing the right privacy controls for a technical company. In this role you will collaborate across the company on programs that strengthen our security and privacy practices.

Your Daily Adventures

  • Manage and evolve Outreach’s Privacy Program, including developing and executing a comprehensive privacy governance and risk-based strategy by working with cross-functional partners across the organization.
  • Execute operational aspects of Outreach’s Privacy Program including 1) responding to data subject requests 2) maintaining Outreach’s privacy accreditation(s) and 3) reviewing contracts for privacy-related risks.
  • Support ongoing privacy monitoring and assurance efforts and manage breach notifications required by federal, state and international law.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define project goals, manage project schedules and successful execution.
  • Translate customer and internal user needs into clear, well-defined functional and technical engineering and business requirements to achieve the privacy goals for our products.
  • Guide and collaborate with Sales & Marketing, Analytics, Data Science, and Product and Engineering leaders to provide the privacy requirements that will define and scope new technical capabilities as well as help influence and prioritize new privacy projects.
  • Identify legal and privacy issues in existing product functionality and work with the appropriate teams across the company to address. Lead the retrospective activities for privacy-related incidents.
  • Manage and drive partner strategies and programs for joint privacy program enhancements.
  • Track and monitor current happenings within the industry and represent Outreach at events.
  • Manage and lead discussions on compliance with privacy controls, gaps in performance, and remediation activities to address these risks.
  • Coordinate with the control owners to ensure all relevant privacy controls are well designed, effective and periodically tested.
  • Identify and lead the global privacy initiatives to ensure Outreach products and processes appropriately protect our customers data including data handling, acceptable use, and consent.
  • Provide data management guidance for product and engineering teams around data retention and data access rights.
  • Assist with the internal and external communications awareness strategy for the Outreach privacy program. Develop privacy awareness in the form of design and implementation FAQs, training videos, and other mechanics for educating our privacy strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years in advising internal teams and external customers on privacy and data protection, including direct experience with developing and managing privacy and data protection programs for a technical company. 
  • Privacy certification (e.g. CIPP or CIPM or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience leading small teams, shaping culture, and driving outcomes while providing development, mentorship, and excitement to exceed team and department goals.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with privacy directives, global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Direct experience with monitoring for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws including third party risk and contract management.
  • Experience with meeting privacy requirements for emerging technologies and services.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to present and explain complex information in a way that establishes rapport gains understanding, and persuades others.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration skills in a highly matrixed environment with the ability to effectively influence, motivate, manage, and coach.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams that meet project goals and achieve measurable results.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to remain flexible and thrive in ambiguity.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves and dig deep to achieve goals.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Passion for Outreach and what we are trying to achieve in sales engagement.
  • A college degree in a business or technical field. (BA/BS).
