The Sales Compensation Director role is a unique opportunity that calls for a skilled, hands-on, analytical professional who will lead Sales compensation planning for the Outreach. You will be responsible for Sales Compensation design, planning and ongoing communication. Additionally, you will be responsible for defining and documenting Sales policies, updating compensation documents, and other related support functions as needed to support our Sales organization. This is a mid-senior position, and as such, the candidate must possess strong knowledge of Sales Compensation. In addition, the candidate should have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to partner effectively with peers and Sales leaders.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

  • Offer thought leadership in sales compensation planning, design and administration
  • Develop and lead our Sales and Success teams through our annual compensation planning process. Design all aspects of sales compensation plans and plan components including rates, accelerators, and SPIFFS for a wide variety of sales teams with variable compensation. Gauge and analyze the efficacy of existing plans and proposed changes on commissions, incentives, and budgets
  • Form and lead a cross functional sales compensation committee to steer decisions on needed changes, SPIFFS, pay exceptions, changes and other related sales compensation challenges
  • Frequently conduct training, info sessions and hold office-hours on compensation plans and programs
  • In partnership with Finance, Sales Operations and Sales Leadership, participate in the quota setting process including synthesizing and communicating quota setting methodology and corresponding commission pay calculations
  • Function as an advisor and point person for all sales compensation design related matters 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted partner to teammates, Recruiters, ES Business Partners, Sales Operations, Finance, Sales and Success teams
  • Analyze market data, review job documentation, enabling management to make informed pay and promotion decisions
  • Analyze data from global compensation surveys for market pricings, salary structure developments, and special reviews
  • Consult on proposed salary adjustments and promotions for conformance to established guidelines, policies, and practices
  • Partner with Finance on commissions budget planning, forecasting and accruals
  • In partnership with colleagues, conduct job evaluations, FLSA assessments, and departmental compensation reviews
  • Analyze and prepare reports for HR and business leaders
  • Quarterly travel to New York or Seattle, and eventually to the UK

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in a Sales compensation role with 4+ years directly supporting groups with leveraged compensation programs
  • Strong leadership and management skills, both direct and influential; must have managed direct reports in past role(s)
  • Experience in presenting to and training sales teams on compensation plans
  • Experience supporting sales and services client groups
  • Expertise in financial analysis, statistical analysis, and modeling is required
  • Expertise in Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent presentation and training skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, influence, problem solve, and successfully collaborate and communicate with clients on various levels is essential
  • Experience working in Tableau Desktop (preferred) or desire to learn
  • Ability to listen and understand the needs of the employees, together with those of the company
  • Ability to stylistically adapt communication based on audience
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills as well as excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • You have demonstrated an ability to practice a high level of confidentiality
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP) preferred
