Smartsheet is seeking a Vice President of Global Sales Operations and Productivity responsible for the overall productivity, effectiveness and scalability of the Field Operations organization, including all Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Services. This role owns sales planning, reporting, quota setting and management; process optimization, enablement and program implementation; and compensation design and administration. In addition, the Vice President of Global Sales Operations and Productivity will be responsible for managing our productivity tools, including CRM, Ticketing, PSA infrastructure and other tools, in order to provide the systems, integrations, reporting, and analytical insight required to scale our field organization.


Reporting to the CRO & EVP of Worldwide Field Operations, the successful candidate will foster close working relationships with key stakeholders across the company to ensure the Sales, Support, Customer Success, Enablement and Services organizations operate efficiently and successfully. The successful candidate will manage multiple Director-level roles.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the field sales team to understand requirements that maximize sales productivity and customer face time.
  • Define and implement cross functional processes that ensure efficient pursuit and closure of complex sales opportunities.
  • Establish high levels of quality, accuracy and process consistency in planning, forecasting and budgeting approaches used by the Sales and Services organizations.
  • Implement organizational objectives that appropriately reflect Smartsheet’s business goals by providing leadership to the Field Operations organization and counsel to the CRO & Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations and senior leadership members.
  • Analyze Enablement requirements across Worldwide Field Operations and implement programs to improve sales productivity (ramp time and overall).
  • Responsible for ensuring equitable assignment of sales quotas across Sales teams, ensuring the company’s financial objectives are optimally allocated to all sales channels and resources through the quota program.
  • Work cross-functionally to scale capabilities, meeting the needs of the Sales, Services, Analytics and Finance teams.
  • Design, implement, maintain and optimize sales and customer lifecycle best-practices for SaaS business, from order management through renewal. Work with Services, Support, and Customer Success leadership to drive efficiency and scale through systems and process, while providing ongoing analytical insight.
  • Provide capacity planning and forecasting insight for shift based scheduling and hiring capacity needs.
  • Prioritize the roadmap of key initiatives related to sales acceleration, optimization, expansion and retention.
  • Enable descriptive and prescriptive analytics at every step of the customer engagement lifecycle.
  • Hire, lead and mentor team of sales operations managers, analysts and enablement professionals that will drive success globally.
  • Directly manage multiple Director-level positions.
  • Partner with senior Sales leadership to identify opportunities for sales operations process improvements.
  • Prioritize investments in enabling technologies supporting the Sales organization’s productivity. 
  • Work closely with Sales and Services leadership and Information Technology team to understand Smartsheet’s sales, services and technology strategy. 
  • Provide input to Sales leadership on the optimal deployment of sales personnel, making recommendations for changing sales roles, coverage models or team configurations in order to maximize sales productivity. 
  • Provide sales reporting and other internal intelligence to the Sales organization, developing new reporting tools as needed. 
  • Oversight of sales compensation plan administration and partnership with HR and Finance to establish program rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Achievement of company’s sales, profit, and strategic objectives.
  • On-time implementation of Sales organization quotas and performance objectives.
  • Thorough implementation of Sales organization-impacting initiatives.
  • Efficient allocation of technology, support, and training resources impacting the Sales organization.
  • Key metrics will include sales ramp time and overall sales productivity.
  • Accurate and on-time reporting essential for Sales organization effectiveness.
  • Direct the support of sales specialists, implementation resources, service resources, and other management resources as needed, coordinating with the appropriate management resources.· Foster close, cooperative relationships with peer leaders and other senior executives.


Requirements: 

  • Four year college degree from an accredited institution; masters in business administration (MBA) or equivalent preferred.
  • Sales, sales operations, business planning and management experience in a SaaS business-to-business sales environment.
  • Experience successfully scaling business Internationally.
  • Proven experience leading complex process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships across functions
  • Experience managing Service delivery organizations.
  • Experience successfully managing analytically rigorous corporate initiatives.
