“We’re trying to help our customers save the world after all,” said LevelTen Energy’s Vice President of Product Andrew Bishop.

For Bishop’s employer, saving the world means making it accessible for companies to buy renewable energy. According to Bishop, his team members are an uncompromising group of people and their insatiable drive is what propels the company forward.

Employees who believe their company has a higher purpose than just making a profit are 27 percent more likely to stay at their jobs, according to a report by TinyPulse. Company mission and culture prove to be just as important for job seekers as salary and position title.

For job seekers looking to find a new professional purpose, look no further. Senior leaders at LevelTen Energy and Doxo shared which traits they look for in new hires, as well as what unites teammates in the office. Besides a belief in the company mission, a breadth of projects and a willingness to learn topped the list.

What they do: LevelTen Energy is reimagining the renewable energy buying process. Its platform makes it easier and faster for commercial and industrial corporations to access renewable energy. By aggregating both buyers and sellers, its marketplace enables smaller customers to access the same projects and terms afforded to the world’s largest energy buyers. With a portfolio of the market’s best power projects, customers can ditch the RFP process.

One thing that would surprise people about LevelTen Energy: “We’re not all energy nerds. We have a really special mix of energy vets and tech types that together make sweet, sweet music — or at least produce a pretty unique software platform,” said Vice President of Product Andrew Bishop.

One trait all team members share: “We are insatiable,” Bishop said. “No one’s ever satisfied with the obvious answer or explanation. It may be good enough for now, but there’s always another level or way to view the problem. It’s the most uncompromising group of people I’ve ever worked with, which makes sense. We’re trying to help our customers save the world after all.”

What they do: Remembering to pay every bill can be a brain drain, but missing a deadline has financial consequences. Doxo’s service lets customers pay their bills all in one place using a single account from any device. The company currently serves more than 3 million users who pay bills to more than 60,000 businesses.

One thing that would surprise people about Doxo: “Definitely the breadth and depth of projects we’re working on. Some people may think of finance as a little boring, but we’re working on products and services that haven’t existed in the market before. It’s a great opportunity to develop new solutions to bill-pay problems we experience in our own lives,” said CTO Mark Goris.

One trait all team members share: “The ability and willingness to learn and adapt,” Goris said. “Whether that is with the overall business, a particular feature, the technology we use, or the processes we execute, we are open-minded when it comes to learning and adapting.”
