According to new U.S. Census data, Seattle is one of only 14 American cities to grow by more than 100,000 people over the last decade. The best part? Most of that growth has been fueled by the tech industry.

The truth is, Seattle’s tech market isn’t just growing — it’s headed for the stratosphere. CBRE reported in July that Seattle is now the fastest-growing tech market in the United States, growing at a rate of 35.4 percent from 2016 to 2020.

With all this growth, it’s not surprising that quality open jobs are available. To learn more, we sat down with talented employees from four Seattle tech companies, who shared why they joined, why they’ve stayed and what’s in store for the future.

Frank Giuliano
Senior Strategic Partnership Manager • Unity

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

The people. Having spent a few months going through the process of interviewing at different companies — which included panels and case studies — Unity was a beacon in a sea of uniformity and conformity.

While interviewing at Unity, every conversation was engaging, thoughtful and genuinely thought-provoking. It was clear from the outset that Unity values fresh perspectives and big, bold ideas. Unity also leads with empathy, respect and opportunity, which was apparent throughout the interview process. Combining a fantastic recruiting experience with a values-driven culture — and the potential for Unity’s real-time 3D (RT3D) technology to transform industries in new and exciting ways — made the decision incredibly easy for me.

Unity at a Glance

Unity is a popular platform for creating and operating real-time 3D (RT3D) content. Creators, ranging from game developers to artists, architects, automotive designers, filmmakers and others, use Unity to make their imaginations come to life.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed?

Creativity and technology are converging, spawning unlimited opportunities in every industry imaginable. As the world’s leading platform for creating and operating interactive RT3D content, we see many industries, such as automotive, architecture and manufacturing, that are very eager to take advantage of interactive RT3D technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and extended reality. What’s incredibly exciting is that we are still just getting started.

Every day, I get to speak with external teams working on bleeding-edge concepts that see RT3D as the linchpin to success. The work I get to do is weaving together incredible ideas with technical know-how to unlock value — and that’s awesome!

Bronte Beaird
Product Manager • Knock

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

I wanted to be part of a stellar team that was passionate, fun and focused — but I also needed work-life balance, flexibility and great benefits. Meeting such a passionate and intelligent group of people made me realize this was the only place I wanted to be. With this fast-growing company, I saw myself being empowered to be part of a journey that would continue to challenge and motivate me. The benefits and company culture exceeded all of my expectations. Altogether, choosing Knock was a no-brainer!

Emily Flanigan
Head of Marketing • Infobip

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

Before I accepted my position at Infobip, I knew that company culture was near the top of my list as a consideration factor. If you’re miserable at work every day, there’s no amount of pay or benefits to make that better.

As I spoke with people working at Infobip during the interview process, I was drawn to their positive outlook and genuine excitement for the company. I also found that I aligned with the core company values. That’s when I knew it was a great fit.

Infobip at a Glance

Infobip helps create meaningful, timely and effortless interactions between companies and their customers, building connected experiences across all stages of the customer journey — and through a single platform.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed?

Infobip is the first Croatian unicorn and is rapidly growing in every corner of the world. As they expand into the North American market, I’m applying a brand and digital marketing skillset that I’ve honed for over 20 years to new challenges. It’s exciting to craft the brand initiatives that will help drive growth in this region and be part of a tech company that’s not only at the forefront of innovation in CX, but staying true to its humble roots.

Cristina Cheramie
Director, Program Management • Blue Nile

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

When I learned about a possible role at Blue Nile, I was really excited. As a customer of Blue Nile, I loved using the website and from my experience working in technology, I knew that there was some really cool tech supporting that site.

Blue Nile at a Glance

Blue Nile is a popular online retailer of diamonds and fine jewelry. The company provides consumers with a superior way to buy engagement rings, wedding rings and fine jewelry, and offers educational materials and online tools that place consumers in control of the jewelry shopping process.

I love technology and jewelry, and I thought about what a great opportunity it was to be a part of a company that is making some great technological improvements to sell products that I would personally buy. I was also very happy with the people I encountered during the interview process — and now I’ve had the pleasure of working with them during my time here. Everyone is ready to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done while maintaining a great attitude.
