Gaming is on the rise, and Unity Technologies has the data to prove it: The 3D development company, which describes itself as the world’s leading platform for creating and operating real-time 3D content, reported this month that the number of games made with its Game Engine platform grew 93 percent in 2021.

Some of this accelerated growth can be attributed to the pandemic, the locally-based company said, as gaming brought people together and provided a human connection in a time of distance and isolation.

But the Unity Gaming Report 2022, which drew information from more than 230,000 developers who make and operate more than 750,000 games based on the company’s platform, also predicted that industry expansion will continue well into the future.
