Lead strategy, roadmap, and execution for Gusto's Tax Platform systems that calculate, track, pay, reconcile, and file tax liabilities. Modernize legacy systems, improve correctness, traceability, and reliability, partner cross-functionally (Engineering, Compliance, Legal, CX, Data Science), and tie platform work to customer outcomes while driving incremental delivery and clear success metrics.

Lead UX vision and strategy across Business Money, Consumer Money, Payments, and Risk. Identify cross-team, high-impact opportunities; influence product strategy and OKRs; define AI-first financial UX; do hands-on design and prototyping; mentor designers; and evolve design system patterns to scale cohesive, trustworthy financial experiences.

Architect and scale an internal AI platform and APIs to integrate LLMs into developer workflows. Build autonomous agents, RAG systems, and production-grade tooling to boost developer productivity, ensure reliability, security, and cost-efficiency, and collaborate across product, infrastructure, and security teams.

Design, build, and maintain Gusto's data infrastructure and tooling. Handle large-scale batch and real-time data (clickstream, DB, third-party). Own solutions end-to-end: gather requirements, implement pipelines, monitor production, and troubleshoot with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Design and implement AI agents and Model Context Protocols to integrate enterprise systems (NetSuite, Zuora, Jira) with LLMs. Build secure, SOX-compliant automation and orchestration workflows, measure KPIs, and partner with Finance, IT, and Security to operationalize AI across enterprise applications.

Lead design of complex, cross-team AI-enabled service journeys—mapping systems and handoffs, building AI-assisted service design workflows, enabling practitioners, and improving operational sustainability and measurement.

Design, build, and harden asynchronous infrastructure and developer tooling to improve engineer productivity. Work on background jobs and async communication using Sidekiq, Kafka, and Karafka, collaborate with product engineers, and apply AI/LLMs for large-scale code migrations and faster incident resolution.

Build and deliver end-to-end, production-grade data solutions: design and maintain scalable ETL pipelines, ingest from diverse sources, implement dbt transformations, ensure data quality and observability, optimize performance and cost, and partner with analytics, product, and engineering teams to drive business impact.

Lead Gusto's AI/ML strategy, managing teams in Machine Learning Engineering, AI, and Risk Data Science. Ensure systems are reliable and impactful while fostering a culture of technical excellence.

As a Staff Product Designer at Gusto, you'll lead end-to-end design for contractor products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance user experiences and implement strategic design solutions.
