From learning Python, C++ and Javascript in college to React in her first software job, Polubiec is now a full-stack engineer at Shelf Engine, currently expanding her knowledge by learning Angular and C#. Getting the chance to work everyday with such an extensive repertoire of coding languages is merely a dream for most software engineers, but the leadership at Shelf Engine has encouraged Polubiec to continue to grow and experiment with an exciting range of projects. “I love being full-stack and having the opportunity to explore so many different languages, frameworks and concepts,” she said.

Keeping everybody happy is difficult, but Shelf Engine’s diverse and driven leadership team might be pretty close. With over 40 percent women, the team works collaboratively to solve tough challenges and have a meaningful impact. Leading the marketing function, Salahshoor works hard to build awareness of the advantages of the company’s unique AI technology and its “triple win” — for customers, consumers and the environment. “We’re intense about our work, but also have fun and keep things light and uplifting,” he said.

My goal is to achieve meaningful results that significantly exceed the sum of our individual parts and provide us all the opportunity to learn and grow and feel really proud of the outcomes we’re able to achieve.

Keeping Personal Connections From Across the Nation

When White-Gaynor joined Shelf Engine as a remote employee, he could have been faced with clunky onboarding or disjointed team meetings. Instead, the company’s priority of a people-first culture, regardless of where employees are working from, saw him fit right in. “The inclusion of remote employees is a big thing at Shelf Engine,” said White-Gaynor. “Programs like informal ‘donut’ chats, where you are randomly matched with another employee for a Zoom coffee, created opportunities for me to get to know people outside of my immediate team on a more personal level and kept me feeling connected.”
