System1 seeks a motivated, resourceful, creative and results-driven Senior Visual Designer with at least 5 years of experience in visual design and UI for consumer facing websites (mobile and desktop) and mobile apps.

System1 is the world’s largest independent search marketplace. System1 is a fast paced, fast growing, profitable company that recently completed a $270 million round of financing.

The Role You Will Have

  • 5+ years of experience in visual design and UI, including 3+ years of experience in a senior or lead design role
  • Proven visual design and UI experience with desktop and mobile web and mobile apps
  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and/or Sketch, Illustrator and other visual design and wireframing tools
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Up-to-date with the latest visual design, UI trends, techniques, and technologies
  • BS/MS in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or related preferred
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping, while not required, would be beneficial. Experience with JIRA also a plus.

What You Will Bring

  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows and visual designs to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and stakeholders
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
  • Provide design support to occasional ad hoc projects such as presentations and marketing materials

He was able to balance his work at System1 with assignments and studying, and now, he’s implementing what he learned on the job. Currently, he and the data science team are working on an algorithm to optimize System1’s advertising on a new network. Their custom-built machine learning infrastructure makes it easy to deploy new algorithms and track performance.
